Here is the Fuzzy Physics Institute's Visual Guide to Minkata Navigation for the Shadow-Impaired Explorer, showing the straight path to various features of interest. While the guide may not enable you to hit the locations dead-on every time, following it should put you within easy sighting distance of your objective. When you have run for the indicated time, stop and look around carefully. If you cannot see the objective, try running along the same course for a few more seconds and looking again. I hope that those who cannot see their shadows will find it useful.

UPDATE 2007.6.23

The Fuzzy Physics Institute is proud to announce a supplement to the Visual Guide to Minkata Navigation: a collection of VGM marker missions. Quest missions are available for the direct paths to each of the 5 kivas, the soccer ball (starting from kiva 4), and the 3125 flag. The quests can be run in either direction, so they can be used to return from an objective by simply resetting the mission. Markers are set every 20 running paces in areas of high visibility, and closer together as the visibility drops in the outer reaches of Minkata, so the trail is always easy to follow. The quests can be run in nighttime Minkata as well as in daytime Minkata.

If you wish to have any or all of these missions, please send a KImail to Ttreb, FPI Director of Outreach Services, KI 1132330. PLEASE include your KI number in the body of the message! The requested missions will be sent to your KI.

----------------------
UPDATE 2007.6.30

The Fuzzy Physics Institute is now, by popular request, offering VGM Night missions for the five kivas, pointing the way toward the correct constellation and the associated "floaty".

As usual, if you wish copies of any of these missions, send KImail to Ttreb, FPI Director of Outreach Services, at KI 1132330. Please remember to include your KI number in the body of the message.

Yep 5. I'm guessing you haven't finished Minkata.

Great job, BrettM! :D

I've taken the liberty of adding it to the Hints, Tips & Walkthroughs. :)

If it wasn't for this visual help, I would still be looking for Kiva's #2,3 and 4. The Noble Robot did a great job with his map, I was just having a hard time getting where I needed to go.

A HUGE thank you.

Very cool, BrettM! Well done!

This is helpful even for those of us who do have shadows.

Thanks!

Maybe you've done all five kivas without realising it. Minkata is a very confusing place. Well, it is when I'm in there! :? :D

Edit.
Thanks BrettM for a very good visual guide.

Thanik you all for the kind words. Noble Robot's map was a good starting point for developing this, and I'm glad to know it is a useful adjunct to his work.

I've updated the image for kiva 4 to make the starting position a bit clearer, since there are no flags in sight at that point and some people were having a difficult time locating the spot. Refresh your browser if you don't see the new version of the image.

Whew! That's exactly what I did. LOL  I had to stop and think a second about the fact that there were 5 symbols to capture... I think there was so much 'talk' about how hard #4 was.. that it just stuck in my head.

Had me going there for awhile though

This should explain why people are calling them kivas :)

Thank you BrettM! I have completed Mintaka but never did figure out where the yellow flag was even though I ran by it numerous times
I knew the general area but......

Great job even sensible file names! You hard work will help many explorers.

:P

Thanks for this splendid guide BrettM. I have no shadows, and even with The Noble Robot's excellent map to hand the only kiva I had found was the one I accidentally fell into! (no. 3) Your guide led me unerringly to within a couple of meters of each hole. (I had to run a little longer than the reccomended times, as my comp lags badly in Minkata) (and elsewhere..)
Thanks again BrettM :D
