Ya, they did change it, you should expect a modest pellet.

I posted the new exploding combination above.

Blah, there was an error in my calculation. It seems this is not as different from TPOTS as I thought. :)

So far I have:
Exploders
Steam and bubbles
White lighters (of various strengths)
Orange lighters (of various strengths)
Floaters (not sure of this one)

Does anyone know of any more types?

That's it, the effect corresponds the 10 levels displayed on the meter.
1 - Steam & Bubbles HIGH
2 - Steam & Bubbles MED
3 - Steam & Bubbles LOW or Floater (if the pellet is close to borderline)
4 - Orange Glow LOW
5 - Orange Glow MED
6 - Orange Glow HIGH
7 - White Glow
8 - Boom LOW
9 - Boom MED
10 - Boom HIGH

Only the glow states give you points with 6 being the best.

Ok, 30/30/30 is the best you can do if you set all the ovens the same. However you can get the max score (randomly around 1000) in an hour less time. I was able to do it with a time of 19.5 (yes, 1 hour 57 minutes) here's some hints on how:
One of the ovens is much more powerful than the others (in fact if you have it set for a high time and temp it will short out and not contribute any to your pellets e.g. in the 30/30/30 setting only 3 of the ovens are doing any work).
You can find this oven by setting it to run with a max amount and temp for only 12 - 15 minutes and the other ovens set to .5/.5/.5. If you get pellets that are worth anything (i.e. 5 - 10 points) then you found the oven.
At such a low time setting it is safe to max out amounts on all ovens.
Also with the weaker ovens you can just go ahead and max out the temps.
So it just comes down to finding the right temp to set the super oven.
One more hint: try the obvious setting.

I just used what I think you have here, the 2 hour recipe and got:

956-982-978-944-962

Only thing I'm unsure of if the time setting for the strong oven. Doing another batch to see if randomness has it scoring better.

If you have any pellets score below 952 then you are off the optimal.

Hmm, we should cook up batches of exploders for the 4th. :p

Oven 1-3: 32/MAX/25
Oven 4: 32/MAX/10

My average with your recipe was 953,8... can you check if my settings are right?
Strong oven: 19,5; MAX; 20
Other ovens: 19,5; MAX; MAX
Close.
The strong oven temp should be 19,5.
Woah! 0,5 "whatevers" make that much of a difference?

Has anyone figured out what exactly is off on the superoven? Is it time, proportion, or temperature?

Doesn't have to be any of them, does it?

My current guess -- I don't have enough evidence to call it a theory -- is that the four ovens each have a fairly simple graph, with a peak or ridge. Go over the ridge, and that oven's yield drops sharply to zero. (The three "non-super" graphs are not necessarily the same, and none of them might have the peak in the same place.)

Then the overall graph, which looks complex, is just the sum of the four.

Avenues to investigate:

See if the top range of an oven really is a flat zero. If it is, that makes it much easier to get data from a single oven -- you'd just set the other three to 50/50/50, and let them "burn out".

Then, start graphing the "super" oven by itself. See if there's a clearer pattern to that.

Only oven 4 burns out. And it's a matter of time and temperature. Basically a setting of 50 on one requires less than 16 on the other; 25 - 25 is kosher too.

All ovens can dip below zero depending on time and temperature.

None of the ovens are the same.

Each slider on each oven has a max value e.g. setting the amount in oven 4 to anything above 41 has no additional effect.

The scale of each slider on each oven is different.

Here's the next batch of pellet scores from me, this time using a cook time of one hour.

10 30 10: mean 43.3
10 30 20: mean 137.4
10 30 30: mean 224.4
10 30 40: mean 250.0
10 30 50: mean 224.8

10 10 40: mean 82.8
10 20 40: mean 167.0
10 40 40: mean 293.8
10 50 40: mean 300.2
