 Okay, so that isn't the greatest topic header, but it IS descriptive... :? Back in the ABM days we were introduced to D'ni numerals - which were rammed home quite forcefuly in Riven. Now, a lot depends on knowing/llearning those numbers. And they're not HARD to learn.

So... with the new map all in D'ni... where are all those files that I THINK I remember offering a translation of the D'ni alphabet? I have a feeling that very shortly we'll be a lot better off if we can individually read (or at least figure out) what a given document says.

I honestly did run a check (albeit a fast one) through the Myths and Legends section looking for the alphabet/writing files, but didn't find them. If I have to go back to the Complete Chronicles and search them out, somebody please tell me now - I've got a lot of territory to cover in that case! :?

The numbers are easier to find if you need them. They're around the coving in the classroom.

This shows the D'ni letters and numbers

Of course, remember that several D'ni letters can be written multiple ways in Roman letters.

And remember, real D'ni, like what is on the map, is not D'ninglish.

D'ninglish = English words changed letter by letter from English to D'ni characters.

If you are going to learn D'ni, which is not cyphered English, one of my favorite places is The D'ni Linguistic Fellowship

Let me warn you though, that if you don't have a solid grounding in languages and grammar, that it's going to be tough to get started.

For discussions on the language the D'ni Linguistics Fellowship is a good place to go, in terms of letters and dictionary this,

is probably the best resource around.
