I am seeing so much saddness here, Sure the Vault is being wiped. Sure the Beta is dieing, but why are you crying? There is something New on the Horizon...

I Sigh, I Fly. I Cry

There are many reasons for the heart to fly,
for the mind to soar and to go high
for the soul to laugh and then to sigh.
But only three reasons exist for us to cry.
Happiness, sorrow, and fear, I will not lie
the only things that cause the mind to die
no more, no less will bring sorrow nigh
only those three, on that you can rely.

I Sigh, I Fly. I Cry

Happiness, too much within the witches brew
and that is what was felt when I found URU.
I was able to walk and run the story through
though in real life that was no longer true.
But of even greater happiness was a motley crew
of the freindships that I was allowed to persue.
within Myst Live I found challenges to subdue
With the help of the army of freinds that I knew.

I Sigh, I Fly. I Cry

Now the sorrow of loss can drive you mad
leaving, temporarly, or permenantly, is so sad
even though despair is there, I have more to add.
For the GrayDragon brought great hope to this lad,
with promises of new content on the sketch pad.
and the possibility that even I can create, is rad.
So the sorrow evaporates and my heart grows glad
and I am ready for the new puzzles to be had.

I Sigh, I Fly. I Cry

Fear, you don't know how, you sigh and panic
new lands and people to explore in subvolcanic.
some puzzles so hard, were almost satanic
the difficulty and challenge almost titanic
subdueing us and driving us almost manic.
but help was there, even from transoceanic.
Now Rand Miller has become almost messianic
with the Games and challenges for the romantic.

I Sigh, I Fly. I Cry

your emotions, let them be free, let them fly
show your feelings, don't be afraid, don't be shy
Happyness, laughter, fear, anxiety, sorrow, you Cry
The beta is over, now the real thing grows nigh.
Now my soul, my mind and my heart doth soar high
With an idea that mayhap Rehearsal also is nigh
and again three reasons exist for us to cry.
The beta is over, now the real thing grows nigh...

I Sigh, I Fly. I Cry

Shorah Again

Shorah again,
My friends, my neighbours.
Shorah again,
To the deep city cavern.

We are the architects of our own destinies now,
We are given a gift most precious.
Uru died twice:
Once the great returning, the fall of D’ni.
Twice the cancellation of a community.

We feel joy at the place we have helped create.
Resurrection is miraculous;
It is rare,
And wonderful,
And we have been a part of it.

Be proud of the creators, both grower and builder
Be glad of your hand in the rebirth of our home.
Be sad for the endings, but always be mindful:
The human spirit never dies, nor does friendship and love.

Shorah again,
My friends, my neighbours.
Shorah again,
To the deep city cavern.
Shorah at last,
To Uru Live and breathing.
Shorah once more,
To us and those to come.

- Braggi

Dedicated to Ravin for the beautiful poem and to all my fellow explorers.

Remember the old saying - "Third time pays for all."

Thank you both Ravin and Braggi for your eloquence.

As for me, I am not sad, I am so excited that we are really getting closer... and closer... to Live!!!!!!!!!! (Hey, not everyone can write poetry. ;) )

This has been a neat experience, unlike I've ever experienced before in any online game. For that I'm thankful. I have no skills in poetry, but I will leave you with a quick diddy I thought of:

I'll see you in the city
where the lights are pretty.

:D

Where are the The Poet - the Scholar - The Bard
Let the mystic chroniclers, satirists and Ovates step forth
Let me hear thy scansion, thy rhyme, thy words en garde
The Guantlet hath been cast down, let thy words come forth..

To D'ni and Beyond

Beneath Endless Fathoms, Depths of stone,
And Lost from Light and Time=
A Vast forsaken City lies broken
There is no life, no Living step but mine.

Towers, high eyries, Mansions, Domes,
Palaces, Halls of Vanished Kings.....and their Homes,
Crumbling slowly into this Stygean sea,
The endless night it's wind brings
Only the echoes of nothingless, to me.

Eons of life and dreams once Real,
Masters, Kings of Might and Power,
Ruled and reigned and sought the Light,
And all then vanished in their Hour.

I run blindly, awestruck, climbing endless stairs,
Lost, and Fallen, Weary - Alone
I wander fearful, yet enthralled
Far from my surface home.
What hope have I or my own Age and Time,
To last if only ruin, Vast, Dreadful, are left
of Thee and Thine,
Oh, Mighty D'ni.

I seek for hours, wonders on every hand,
Treading at the feet of Giants,
Who have no voice, forever Silent,
In this, their fabled Realm and Land.

Is what I feel sorrow, sadness, pity, shame?
Is all lost, fading, empty, without name?
Is this the Fate of all Might, All Makers, and their Fame?
Am I seeking their redemption, or mine?

Beneath Endless Fathoms, depths of stone,
And Lost from Light and Time
A Vast and forsaken City lies broken
There is no life, no Living step but mine.

I must return to the Light above,
To duties, tasks, unfinsihed and undone,
Yet this City will call be me back........
I know my journey here has just begun.

Lost in D'ni

What hand wroght
What my eye can see,
What strange powers
lie Hidden in D'ni?
In ruin, and darkened Silence
Lie the works of Giants,
Masters of All they surveyed.
What chance have I,
Lost traveller,
Wanderer,
Far from my surface home...
To unlock what they have
hidden
Down in Darkness,
Silent and Forlorn?
How can their lost light
Truely, ever be reborn?

We will see.

Ahhhh one hast replyed

I shake, quiver and shiver like a swimmer on the shore
of shark infested waters. A frightened transgressor
against all reason. I have beheld the worlds of a seer.
those lyrical words drumming, have brought to the fore
a flame within my mind causing passion to smoulder.
A blazing fire that burns away my minds last inhibitor.

And the Ravin needs more

I am lost to passion and an all consuming disdane.
of any attempt to duplicate, to recreate this refrain.
I will fight with honor to defend the creators domain.
But desire increases, till I can barely stand the strain!
like an intoxicating beverage, an exquisite champagne
inebriation, intoxication, drunkeness so very mundain.

And the Ravin needs more

That Pounding, hast my body in a grip so unbreakable
my heart hast burst with desire quite unmentionable.
And my loins doth smoulder with passion so insatiable
that my mind doth burn with a flame unquenchable.
The desire for more, where are the bard and minstral
whose words, their passion, their rhythm are so lyrical.

And the Ravin needs more

I am lost to erotism, that all consuming flame
that burns away reason and any thought so inane.
That I must flee, before my body becomes my bane!
But the passion still increases I must obstain
from unwanted delight, the challenge and the pain
of that terrifying rhythmic uproar driving my shame.

And the Ravin needs more

All my life I have sought a dream of perfection.
an honest, and true, a challenging, rewarding companion
I have ransacked the world over in my investigation
and finally I have found an end to my inquisition.
I have succeeded, But at what cost, what fruitation
I fear that I may have lost the dream of perfection

And the Ravin needs more

Oh Cyan, What have you done, Why must this be?
For I am a simple man who doubts his sanity.
I must be crazy, for these thoughts to so torture me.
For I have found a game that transcends mediocrity.
The mystic words of Rand Miller's dreams are no parody
They are the life, death, passion of an alternate reality.

And the Ravin needs more

I'm not much of a poet, but here's a thing I've dragged up from an ancient D'ni Guild and then reposted on UO post.

Pride comes before the Fall.
Pride hurts us all.
Works and wonders;
Are now but blunders,
Symbols of a fallen race.

They are symbols of a fallen race,
Fate hath shown to them no grace.
Their City, rank with greed,
Hath suffered from their evil deed.
Yet, there is still hope.

Hope rings out across the Cavern,
To every house, every street, every tavern.
It's note rings across Time and Space,
Drawing people to it's special place.
D'ni lives.

D'ni lives on.
It once was gone.
Let us not take the path the D'ni chose.
And so I close.
Realizing that perhaps the ending never can be written.

No way! Now THAT'S my kind of poetry, edders  Want an example of the kind of "poetry" I write? Probably not, but here goes anyway. This went on my "post-Christmas" card:
The presents are open
The eggnog's been drunk,
Christmas is finished
Don't fall in a funk

Don't cry 'cause it's over
Don't sob in your beer,
A new year's beginning
Move on with great cheer!

Happy Winter and Happy New Year!

Sorry to derail this thread from its topic...back to the subject now.

Wonderful poetry from the rest of you (including you, edders)!! *Cassie applauds loudly*

Well so much has happened in the last few days MO.UL has succeeded it is now online but the old must die for the new to survive and to Until Uru we say good-bye, and to my poem I add a final 2 stanza...

I Cry

It is Feburary fifteenth, two thousand and seven
And it is time for this Avatar, the lowly Ravin
To gather his courage and his computer to go caven
My mind, my heart soars, they're in Seventh Heaven
The Bards and the Seers at Cyan have become my Maven
For they have allowed on the airways to be engraven
A world to explore and solve, a wonderous new Haven
The Ages available for to wonder and marvel are eleven

I Sigh, I Fly. I Cry

So you ask and ponder the question, why do I sigh,
why is it that I can not let my heart go and Fly
because the only way to Nirvana is that you must buy
access to Game Tap, with this, you are forced to comply
but I am on a fixed income, forced to just scrape by
I have been told that this is a little thing to defy
but the is money is needed elsewhere and I must reply
So The Raven must go, To URU I am forced to say Good Bye

I Sigh, I Fly. I Cry

I am reminded of another cold Feburary day of yore
One that occurred in the year 0f two thousand and four
When the game from my heart by Ubi Soft, was sorely tore
and now again the axe, and no more the friendly rapport
tears will be shed, and good byes will be said, as before
and lost are the new challenges that others can explore
but this is no solice, for the ones they choose to ignore
what they miss and desire the most is the esprit de corps

I Sigh, I Fly. I Cry
