Just wanted to remind those of you who are playing Uru in the US and Canada that you should be using the GameTap Interface to log into the game This is an important test for us to make sure that server handling is up to par. I realize that this may mean a long download but the load and feedback we can get while doing this is invaluable to us. Thanks in advance

Just to be double-sure, by "GameTap Interface," you mean the UruLauncher.exe that's in my GameTap\volumes\games\140000150\data\ folder, correct? (Not sure it's the same folder for everyone, but that's where it is in my GameTap directory.) I never see the GameTap interface itself when I launch Uru that way.

No. It means to launch GameTap using the shortcut installed on your desktop by GameTap and enter Uru from the GameTap interface.
"C:\Program Files\GameTap\bin\release\gametap.exe"

If you use the UruLauncher.exe you are bypassing GameTap and the developers do not get the information they need for testing.

I believe he means:

1. Click on the GameTap icon and start GameTap...
2 Go to your Favorites and if you have already downloaded it through the regular GameTap interface, run it from there. If not then you will need to download it through the regular Gametap interface. Then run it...

EDIT: Ha, you beat me... lol

GameTap still doesn't allow Windows 2000 users to download the game inside the client, even though the ticket response that I received a month or so earlier said that Windows 2000 would be supported by the launch date.

What should I do?

Try reopening your ticket with a note asking if there is any news? The squeaky wheel gets the oil... ;)

(And tell your family/friends that you want a new computer for your birthday!!!)

Suggestion for those who don't normally use GameTap to launch:

Look through GameTap, before logging into Uru. Find up to three games you'd like to try out, and start them downloading. Then hop into Uru and spend your time there. Given enough time, the games will be downloaded when you're done!

Don't delete, always uninstall from Add/Remove Programs.

Then go to your GameTap account, and download and install the GameTap client, if you haven't already done so.

Once it is installed, click on the GameTap shortcut on your desktop to launch GameTap. From the GameTap interface, find Uru, click Download, then still in the GameTap interface, click Play.

And yes, you will need to do all those downloads again since it will all be stored in a new location on your HD. (Don't cry to me, I had to do it too.)

Nooo... that's an explanation on how to combine two accounts.

I need to find the location in which GameTap is saving Uru content, so I can copy my current stuff over.

Default locations would mean that you should copy C:\Program Files\Myst Online\sfx\ and C:\Program Files\Myst Online\dat\ to C:\Program Files\GameTap\volumes\games\140000150\data\

You don't need to copy anything over. Your avvie and your progress is saved on the server. I just did the long Gametap download and my avvie was still dress like I left her yesterday from the other link.
