... waiting for Shroomie to show. And while I was waiting I was wondering what the use of the big giant thingy is over by the gun. It sits large and in the water with a spout at top, a ladder on the side and a pipe going into the rock kind of in the direction of the large mushroom (the link-in hut).

I guess what I'm trying to say is... is that where the water drains to from under the Hut. I've always wondered where all that water went to, so my assumption is it goes through a pipe to the big spout and dumps into the Ocean.

But, the only way to find out would be to have someone sitting there while another pumps the water. If anybody wants to try that out let me know! I may ask around at the GoG Neighborhood, to try with someone tonight around 6pm Mtn time.

Edit: Closer to 6pm I'll be in the GoG, forgot about Dinner

Ok, well I went back to try to fill the Hut back up with water and it was a no go. So, unless someone knows how to fill back up then it will never be known if that thing is the drainage or not. Unless... any ideas anyone?

I don't think water comes out of it.

We will never know, since we have to empty the water first in order to get to where the machine is located. It's a good question though!

Can't you have someone else fill the water back up after you've gone through?

I asked someone to try a refill while I stayed at the bottom so I could watch myself drown. Nothing they did would cause a refill.

I guess Cyan would rather not 1) have people drowned, or 2) have to write the necessary code and create an in-game mechanism for not being able to cause a refill while people are down there. How would you make sure? For example, the Ahnonay age in TPOTS knows how many lifeforms are present. But there is an in-game mechanism and obvious reference to it. There is no such reference in Teledahn, and only the water tank needs to be protected rather than the entire age.

No, you can't refill the area under the hut.

The only way I can think of is the old URU on an alternative shard that allows the FlyMode patch. But I doubt that the water animation is implemented.

I have always wondered what that machine is, and I'd love to be able to use it!

I remember when I first did Teledahn, I saw it and though "whoa, how do I use that?" I was quite dissapointed when I found that it could be used...

This is how I think it can be done, if someone creates a new character, then takes that character to visit someone else's Teledahn that is finished and touches the hand near the Bahro cave.

Now, New Character invites Someone to New Character's Relto to touch the hand on the Teledahn book that is being shared (I'm assuming the hand will be there to link next to the bahro cave even though it wasn't touched in new character's Teledahn, correct me if I'm wrong). Then New Character turns the page to the Link-in Hut and turns power on and empties the water, all the while Someone is watching at the Big Machine seeing if it drains out of the spout.

And it's probably true that there isn't a water animation, but I think it would be fun to try it out.

Edit: Maybe I'll try it out now if you see a WaterMan help me, please :D

According to Douglas Sharper's journal that can be found in his Ae'gura City Office, the D'ni harvested spores in Teledahn which they used to make some bread-like delicacy. Thus Teledahn's original purpose was to be used as a farming Age. My idea about this contraption looking like a big hair-dryer is that it was actually used for transporting the harvest from Teledahn to other Ages in an industrial scale. Maybe this machine was part of a mechanism which directed huge amounts of spores to some special means of linking, like a big inter-Age conveyor-belt.
