Quoting form Game Features section of Game Info on the the official URU web page (my underlining):

Solve puzzles by yourself, with friends, and or with large groups of people

• Receive as much - or as little - help as you want

I have seen posts stating the Delin cannot be solved by a single person on their own. That seems contrary to the above. I enjoy solitary exploration and find the presence of others ruins the immersion. Is it really impossible to complete Delin on your own or just annoyingly difficult (there is nothing enjoyable about spending hours re-trying the same puzzle)?

I was a beta tester in the original URU and there were a lot of complaints about the jumping and timed puzzles. Certainly not used to that in a Myst game!

I hope the game remains as advertised - one that can be played co-operatively or as a single player.

Sorry Big_Al, you will need help with this puzzle as it stands now.

Solve puzzles.

Not solve ALL puzzles.

Solve puzzles.

You've solved some puzzles on your own, correct?

And you can solve some puzzles with friends, correct?

As advertised!

The text on Gametap is 100% right.

You can solve puzzles on your own. Go to Teledahn, Gahreesen, Kemo, you name it! Plenty of puzzles to solve on your own.

Also true, you can invite friends to your own Age. And the small, new, cosy Age Delin has a puzzle that needs to be solved together.

I don't see the point...

Is it URU, or Myst Online URU Live you're referring to?

If you don't like being around people, the standalone game is the one for you, Al. But stick around...the place (and people) grow on you. (In a good way, not a vegetative way)

:D

I discovered another topic in the forums about this after I posted and I am certainly not alone in wanting to explore on my own. It also seems from what I read in that post that Delin is not "crucial" to move the game forward. If that is the case, then I have no problem - I just will not bother will solving that age.

You will notice in the quote in my original post that it states "with as little or as much help as you want". In the case of Delin that doesn't quite hold.

As long as not participating in the multi-player bits doesn't prevent one from moving forward in the game then it is no big deal.

So far, it appears that this particular puzzle is "optional" and you can choose to do it, or not.
You get a kind of "reward" for it, but so far that seems to have no real purpose other than decorative.
It WILL have a purpose, together with Tsogal.

There's no point in solving an age for nothing.
We'll need both of them completed in order to do something else......I hope 8)

Unless you have an inside source with Cyan I wouldn't say that it WILL have anything until you've seen it for yourself.

LOL

Plans change, even Cyan's. Features come and features go, some fail and some succeed. We saw it all the first time around.

The fact is that, *shock* , this is a multiplayer game. That's why there are dozens of avatars running around all over the place. If you want to play alone, what's the point of being here? I don't get it. You'll be paying $120 a year for a game you can buy now less than $20 and be all alone in bliss.

Again, this is a multiplayer online game. Just like you team with your clan-mate or team or squadron in other games, you need to team with others here, from time to time.

If you only want to play alone, why come here to talk to other people? Be alone.

*sigh* I apologize for the rant. But two things really irk me in these forums. This topic, and the "I'm bored" topic. Again, sorry.

Tim

Big_Al in the Game Discussion forum is the topic "puzzling alone for dummies" or something to that affect that you might be interested in. The idea is to allow an explorer to find out for themselves how a puzzle works and ask someone, who will not give spoilers, for assistance.

I also have soap boxes for sell
