I see no good reason to open this HUGE can of worms. It would only be asking for MAJOR trouble down the road.

Yes... there was a /hug in the userKI in UU: it was the "ckecking KI" animation, but without the KI in your face, and you coul pan the camera about in 3rd person, still. It was quite nice. That's about as far as i'd go for emotes that could be romantic.

And a hug isn't necessarily romantic: Sometimes, when you're feeling quite down, a hug can be a nice picker-upper.

Ooooo me thinks you've found me out, oh my, what will me do now?

Oh, yes, we Rangers roam through the Ages like fireflies in the night... wit of a thousand suns flows in our veins, and truth be told... hush, it's a secret... but the D'ni blood lives in us all and not all that you see and hear is as real as you think is...

Watch the mist in the caverns for a sign... more than even wizard's can fly...

As my friend and comrade once said:

"I am a Ranger. We walk in the dark places no others will enter. We stand on the bridge and no-one may pass. We live for the One, we die for the One."

IMO, it doesn't have a place in Uru. We are exploring an ancient civilization, uncovering the lives and workings of the D'ni. It's not the place I would expect to come across someone out on a date...or more.

I would agree with you, but I have to face the facts: My time in the cavern is spent 4% exploring, 6% exploiting and and 90% dancing with hot women. But maybe that's just my 'hood.

I realise that this game isn't necessarily "adult" related. But I can quite imagine a lot of adults playing this game and wanting to build adult based role played relationships. I think if the things I'm looking for aren't present in this game at present, that some consideration should be given to implementing them into the game.

With all due respect, this is not the game you're looking for then. Uru is about exploration, solving puzzles, and uncovering the mysteries of D'ni with a community of like-minded explorers. It's also intended to be someplace between a G and PG-rated experience. Pursuing a romantic relationship in-cavern, while perhaps cute in some respects, doesn't further the Uru experience in the way it was intended. There are many other online games and services which allow and perhaps encourage this kind of behavior. Keep in mind that any references to sexual behavior are a complete violation of the terms of agreement.

I can pretty much guarantee that the Devs aren't going to impliment that kind of stuff in-game.

While I do support a /hug emote, I'm opposed to anything beyond that.

I don't want Uru to become a graphical interface for cybersex, like many other online avatar-based games have become. SecondLife has some great content, but a huge amount of the world is dedicated to virtual sex.

Uru already has the possibility through the /me command. I wouldn't want to encourage it through any dedicated animations.

A simple /hug or /kiss isn't too much, especially if the other person has to accept the /hug or /kiss.

Nothing more, though. Keep it clean.

/signed

I got nothin' against people doing what people do, but I don't think development time needs to be spent on it. I like the idea of a /hug emote, however. And a working /blowkiss emote.

I think interactive emotes of other sorts (/shakehands, /highfive, etc) would be pretty cool, though.

I think a hug emote would be great if you have to choose to except it. I'd also want a kiss one like that, but that's more of a can of worms than a hug is, so maybe it's not a good idea.

I've always wanted a hug emote. :P

I don't really feel like getting into this discussion, since Uru has had some... code of conduct issues in the past. I'm inclined to say that things are fine the way they are, and adding such animations would simply be unnecessary.

earthwizard..
The willows must scuttle carefully!

Above quote is from Kosh. It would be interesting to see the Minbari numbering system.. I would imagine it to be base 3/9 much like D'ni is 5/25

But, Nadnerb, "the avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote." 8)

As the Ambassador has always said, "We are all Kosh!"... :P
