It seems like this sun/moon disc is all I've been talking about lately, but I ran across this Bible verse, of all things, and I've got to mention it.

Genesis 37:9

And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

This is Joseph's dream, and as is explained in later verses, the sun and moon represent Joseph's parents and the stars represent Joseph's eleven brothers (making twelve total). Literally, the twelve children of Israel.

I have no idea where they're going with the whole sun/moon disc thing, and I imagine it has nothing to do with the Bible, but the wisps are sort of like stars, and apparently there will be twelve of them. If nothing else, it's a striking coincidence that there's a sun and moon and exactly twelve "stars" (if you will) in each of these things.

While I certainly judge this as coincidental, I also think some valid comparisons can be made between the D'ni and the Israelites.
At the end of Myst V, seeing the elder Atrus and Releeshan really invoked, to me, the thought of Moses leading his people to the promised land.
Truth is, there are a significant number of Biblical (historical and otherwise) parallels littered throughout the DRC's research and in the various historical accounts and documents in the cavern... D'ni society, religious practices, prophecies, and the like... Yahvo=Yahweh...

Someone could probably write a masters thesis on all of it!

(Wait... maybe that's where Dr. Watson disappeared to...)

Step 1: I admit that I have no control over my addiction to MO:UL - and, actually, I don't care about "getting better".

well, many people maintain (including me) that the "sun/moon" is actually the volcano and its shadow.

Here, here, I must agree with Maratanos, and have somewhere in another post...
There is a glyph posted somewhere that the Bahro are either leaving or entering the Volcano and it looks just like the one underneath the Calendar.

If I can find it I'll post it.

Ok, I couldn't find the post, but I did find the spiral glyph, it was at this site:

That would be a very cool reward after collecting twelve of the "sparkies."

A link to the inside of the volcano caldera...

(Gets excited...)

I've also noticed that the same white dotted spiral seen on the island and shown in the Bahro Glyph picture (thanks Monkeyboy) is also on the cave wall where we pick up our "pillar page" in the Cleft. Coincidence or clues?

Sosiqui - in another tread - noted that there is a white line being drawn inside the spiral that extinds with each "sparkly" addition. A developing clue? (see her post on the second page of "The 10 missing sparkly pillars..." thread in this forum)

Also note - the book symbol (book inside a square) next to the spiral in the cave is the same as the book symbol on the rock "donuts" turning over the "well" on the other side of the island. And is also above the image of Yeesha in the Bahro Glyph.

That white line has been there since we got the relto page, even before we started collecting sparklies.

Yes - it has - but I think much shorter. It will be interesting to see if it extends to the third sparkly when we get it. If not - well we will still have to figure out what it is there for.

Nope, it's always extended just that far - no more, no less.

Hey guys, no offense, but I was sort of hoping to discuss parallels between the D'ni and other ancient civilizations here. Especially since the disc itself is already being discussed ad nauseum in countless other threads. I'm afraid everything following the first reply here just constitutes needless thread hijacking.
