Hi!

Strange that we don't know much about the cavern, isn't it? :?

I've had a look at the population thing and found out that the highest number of D'ni living in the cavern was about 1 million. (Which is because the D'ni lived long and women weren't "fertile" so often)

The cavern itself...I think we can only say that it's HUGE!
(Because you can see "clouds" in the "sky")

King Ailesh...that could be right. Gotta re-read his story!

Govern buildings! That's it! lol

So thanks for answering sel-tahn!

Have you seen Aitrus's map from the Book of Ti'ana? It shows the Cavern as about 3 miles long and a mile wide. I believe the Book of Atrus indicates that it is about a mile high, as well.

How large is the main cavern? (height and length)

Over 10 miles (16.1 km) long, 6 miles (9.7 km) wide, and between 2 and 3 miles (3.2 and 4.8 km) high. Huge indeed.

You can see more information, including a simple map, here.

Edit: BrettM, I haven't seen those estimates. What are people using as a scale on Aitrus's map?

What's the name of the street where you can come to Kadish Gallery? (Tell the D'ni name if possible)

I don't think we know the D'ni name yet. We refer to it as the "Canyon Mall." (The D'ni built it as a sort of marketplace.)

I was going by the scale on Futographer's beautiful translated and annotated copy of the map. However, there is a full discussion of discrepencies between the map and the novels in this thread on UO, and YMMV. At this point I don't think we have the real answer. Perhaps when the GZ is fully calibrated and the KPS is working properly, we will be able to work it out.

Hi!

Can someone of you put in an enlargeable picture of the map, please!
I can hardly see it and the links on uruobsession.com aren't working anymore! :(

Here is a copy of Futographer's translated map. If there is a key or something to go along with the numbers he's added to the map, I've never seen it. And, unfortunately, Futographer is no longer active in the Uru community. We should probably nag the GoC to put this up as part of the map collection on their site.

If you want the original map, there are links to several versions of it in a recent thread on the DLF forums.

Hi!

Thx for the link!

I remember a picture of the cavern where you can see the main cavern with the city and the neighborhoods at the walls and the important islands in the Lake. If you know that picture too (I think it was black-white) maybe you can find the URL to it for me! Pleeeaseee!!!

I've seen another interesting picture (concept art) of the skin maintainers suits but can't find the URL to it! Help!!!

Hi all!

Why and when (under which circumstances, etc.) is an Age called "illegal"?

Why was it forbidden to trade with illegal ages?

Hope to get an answer soon!

oh, this subject is a bit difficult:
It depends on when the Age was written:
If it was written during the Age of Kings an Age was illegal if it broke the rules of the Guild of Writers or it wasn't approved by the Guild of Maintainers or if it was written for "illegal" purposes, these illegal purposes were defined by the rules of King Loshemanesh and King Demath.

If the Age was written after the Age of Kings an Age was illegal for the rules said above, but also if the Age was inhabited (I can't find where I found this information, but I'm quite sure it's correct)

I think the reason why trading with illegal Age was forbitten it's obvious: because they were illegal  . Trading with illegal Ages was punished with the isolation in a Prison Age, by King Loshemanesh's rules.

Hi!

Do you know anything about the rules of the Guild of Writers?

I think an Age could have also been called "illegal" when it was unstable or written by someone who actually shouldn't be able to write.

Just because it was inhabited?! That's interesting...

Lol, yeah that seems to be a good reason.
