How to play old MYST games on a modern computer

Hi

I have a laptop with Windows 10, and I was wondering if there was a chance to play old games like MYST 5 on it. I inserted the DVD and the game did download, but when I tried to open it there was a stack of problems showing. Maybe it will only play with Windows XP.
Anyone who knows if there is some converter or something that let you play old games with today's Windows?

Did you try the Myst5-Vista-Patch.7z available here ? It should solve this kind of bugs for versions of Windows higher than XP.

I downloaded the patch and unzipped it. Then copied it and tried to paste it into:
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local
Maybe I did not understand from the text file where to paste it, I tried the MYST 5 folder and then the init folder inside it.
But nothing happened and I still can't open the game

Try to paste the "Myst V End of Ages" folder in "C:\Users\User Name (Kneb for example)\Documents\My Games".

In the game shortcut properties, compatibility tab:
- check "Compatibility XP SP2" and "Replace the high PPP scaling behavior" (only these cases) ;
- for "Scaling done by:" select "Application".

If it still don't work, if you have another DVD player, try to put the DVD inside this other player.
(On my system, the game don't work in my internal DVD player, I have to put the DVD inside my external (USB) Blu-ray player or to use the GOG version of the game.)

I have a swedish system and it's a bit different from the english one I guess. I could not find a My Games folder in the Documents folder. But I pasted the MYST 5 folder into the Documents folder. By using a properties shortcut I could not find a compability tab.
Then I thought of another possibility. In the AppData folder there was the MYST V End of Ages folder created by the installer. I deleted it and replaced it with the new folder, and the game started.

Now I'm going to meet with Yeesha and Esher and walk around in the great shaft, nice
