Please forgive me for asking about this when I know it's been asked before. I have done some searching for a solution, but everything I could find is several years old.

I was running MOULa successfully on my less-than-2-year-old Windows10 system until several months ago when my SSD failed and I had to replace it, reinstall Windows and try to get everything up and running. (I didn't do this myself, because I'm clueless.) Getting back to the Cavern was not a high priority, so I didn't try reinstalling Uru Live until today, and now I am getting the message:

The code execution cannot proceed because d3dx9_27.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem

Reinstalling did not help. Fresh download did not make a difference. I seem to have the latest version of DirectX. Windows updated just before I installed Uru. I restarted my computer. Nothing helped.

I've followed several links in old threads, but either they lead to something that doesn't seem to be connected to this problem, or they apply to other versions of Windows, or they go to a source I'm not keen to trust. I don't have time to do a more comprehensive search and lengthy problem solving, which is harrowing for people like me who don't know what they're doing.

Could someone please point me directly to something that would help?

Thank you!

Kerryth

EDIT: msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll are NOT missing

Have you tried this?

Uru requires a few extra DLLs that aren't included in Windows (anymore). You can get them using this installer from Microsoft. (When downloading, be careful that you uncheck the "offer" to make MSN your homepage and Bing your search engine! You can also ignore all of the other "suggestions" from the list.)
Once you've downloaded the installer, make a new folder on your desktop, run the installer, and tell it to extract into the folder you created. Then run the "DXSETUP.exe" in the folder to install the DLL files. After you've done that, check if Uru runs now. If so, you can delete the folder from your desktop and the installer.

Thank you, korovev. I think I bypassed that suggestion because a subsequent comment said it works for Windows 7 but not Windows 10. I'll take another look at it.
