Will I need the CD ROM?

I'm excited to see this come back, as I have really gotten involved in such MMO's as FFXI. Wife and I were always big MYST and URU fans

So now what I need to know is do I need the CD (haven't touched it in two years) or will I just download the software off Gametap's site? Can't seem to find an answer.

No CD nessesary. All you have to do is download the installer via GameTap and install it from there. It's really nice not having a CD to lose

You won't need the CD, but be aware that the downloads can be rather large and take quite a bit of time, depending on your connection speed.

I already have Exile, but I tried to download it the other day off of gametap, and omg it took forever. I wonder how long it's going to take me to download Myst Online.

With my connection it took about 45 minutes for the +300 MB installer (my connection has a general download speed of about 120KBPS)

In game updates aren't all that bad really.

Exile is over a 4GB download. Uru Live is not.

When I started the download, the estimated time was supposed to be 29 min but It took me only about +- 10 min. I did not have time to see the full replay of the video's intro.

The update took less that 5 minutes.

The linking inside the game was not as fast as when playing cds version. lol. lol
Patience is the key word. (3 bugs so far- one crash to desk re: error message, server disconnection)

MOUL is much smaller. The installer is 300MB large and contains an initial set of ages and data. The other ages are downloaded on first visit. Each age is about 50 to 200 MB.

Both the Rand/Josh Staub/Jason Baskett interview video (Rebirth of Myst Online) and the Uru Live 101 video are available in the GameTap TV section if you want to watch either of them again.

At least for me, the interview video is the first thing to start playing when I go to GameTap TV; if not, go to Originals in the left column, select Retrospectives from the thumbnails (you'll need to scroll down a ways), and then pick Rebirth of Myst Online in the right bar.

The Uru Live 101 video is featured content at the moment, so it should be the first thing to play; if not, it should definitely be the spotlighted content on the right; click the button to play the video.

Linking is certainly going to take longer than it did offline, even after you've downloaded an Age, because the game checks every time you link to make sure the content it has is up to date, and the game then has to page you into the server with everyone else in the Age (link-in lag in one of its two forms).
