Here are two videos of a church designed with Sims2. I think it is increadibly well done down to the details - it could inspire to the from time to time on this forum mentioned church and graveyard wish. If not in the city then as a sort of Messiah age (yeah I know there might be a multi national player conflict as to what type of church though. This one is catholic) ;-)

I heard that religious expressions were forbidden by the code of conduct.

Your idea is nice, but I'd rather go to a real church instead of a virtual one. ;)

 So do I. Like I also sing in real choirs beside the Cavern Choir (uhm - which is also real. Well - sort of).

Super great videos.

My favorite was the second one. re: the music really sounded good.

And wow for the graphics, specially the "the light". Looked nice, even
at night time. That is what I would have like to see in Uru Live.

The cat and the penguin were also a nice touch but no penguin tracs in the snow,
much like in our winter's Delins. :D

Thank you for sharing with us.

My wife, who designs stuff for Sims2, found it on a Frensh Sims2 site.

Wow that's pretty cool. It always amazes me when people take the time to build something really awesome, me I usually just provide for the basic needs.

But, we'd rather have the Concert Hall then a church, right? ;)

Excuse me? Where does is say that? If that's in there, then that's taking the CoC a little far, if you ask me.

For crying out loud, if all we ever worry about is offending people, then we might as well all take a vow of silence.

Hey, I'm only saying that I heard someone saying that. I didn't come up with that ;)

I'll look in the CoC now to be sure...

You're right. There's nothing like that in the CoC, altough I thought I heard someone say that political / religious 'hoods were forbidden... something along those lines.

I'm sorry if I created any confusion.

4. Naming Policy. When selecting a character, guild, city, pet, neighborhood, or object name for use on Myst Online: Uru Live, you must abide by the following Naming Policy set forth below (and in the event TGN changes it, you will abide by all changes after it is posted here. You must use your best judgment to avoid gray areas.

Names may not be religiously or historically sensitive.

So, I'm afraid it wouldn't be allowed.

That is about naming (avatars). Having a church in URU is imo not covered by that paragraph. The problem, or gray zone, might be that if we have a Christian church other religious societies might feel offended or at least overlooked. On the other hand IC D'ni may have had its own religion - wasn't there a sort of temple or church in Myst IV?

Not just avatars but also "guilds, cities, pets, neighborhoods, or object names". In other words, just about any item or entity. If you can't name it in any religious manner, why would you be able to have it closely relate to one?

You're right that it doesn't explicitly say that it applies beyond just names, but it wouldn't make sense to me for it not to apply to all content.

D'ni did have multiple known religions and sects: http://en.mystlore.com/wiki/D%27ni_%28race%29#Religion

As long as it's not Cyan's content, I don't see why anything like that should offend anyone (as long as it's viewable/accessible to all ages.) If I want to make the Christian's Bevin, I have every right to do that, just as anyone has the right to make the Hindu's Bevin, or the Church of the Non-Denominational Doctrine of Dr. Watson's Bevin.

Now, if Cyan were to make some sort of Christian church and put it into Uru as something "official", I can understand why someone would be offended. You can't pick and choose in this day of being Politically Correct. But I think explorers should be allowed to make their own groups any way they like. Why is it ok for explorers to have a Gay D'ni Bevin, but not a religious one?

Now, in the CoC, when it says "religiously or historically sensitive," I think what that means is, it can't be derogatory, defamatory, racist, or exclusive. I don't think it's barring religious names, like, say, "BuddhaBoy". But if you wanted to make an avatar named, say, "Jesus Poop," that will probably offend a lot of people and therefore shouldn't be allowed.

I would probably be one of the many who would be very upset if cyan were to put or allow an age that catered to one particular faith or any faith at all (outside D'ni faiths). As a person of no religion I would be as unnerved seeing a church in URU as you may be seeing a buddhist temple or a mosque :)
