Over a year before Explorers began to trickle into D'ni, Restoration Engineer, Phil Henderson VANISHED.

Almost timed with our arrival in November of 2003, Phil returned, and he brought with him cryptic messages he seemed at first reluctant to share. At the same time, another DRC freelancer, Douglas Sharper, was growing increasingly unhappy with his employers as they began to close off more areas of Ae'gura, fearful that the growing number of Explorers could somehow hurt themselves.

Enjoy Episode One: "Planting the Seeds" as the Explorers are slowly presented with different takes on how the restoration of D'ni should be undertaken.

It has come to our attention that the Great Tree website is not handling the community's interest in this Episode as gracefully as we'd hoped.

Wayyyyyyyyyy faster, thank you! The file took less than a minute to download. :D

This is great, to finally be able to "catch up" on the back story that I missed. Thanks so much!

Episode 1 was great... I'm looking forward to #2. I get a sort of unsettling "Unsolved Mysteries" kind of vibe from these episodes. Great stuff! :)

I agree! I missed all the events in Prologue, and I've slowly been gleaning some information from other people. I think I learned more from this episode than I ever knew!

The Great Tree thanks you.

James L., I hope you're not looking for answers at the end of all this. With the re-opening of the Cavern comes more mysteries.

Well, they never really gave any answers on "Unsolved Mysteries" either, so, no. :)

newbie question!

these Great Tree videos are great! i love em, but i dun understand, are these movies based on actual events that happened in Uru Prologue? or is it just a theatrical representation of the story behind Uru Prologue?

Yes, Epialtes, these films are based on actual transcripts of events that took place in the Cavern. They have been re-created by volunteers because no such video recordings existed at the time of the actual event. We're all glad that the actual participants during Prologue had the foresight to create chat logs or everything that transpired would simply be a fading memory.

it feels like movies of civil wars or world wars that are only based on it.
im actually seeing this being a good way to log events that only happen once. like phil appearing and disappearing.

it would be great if something like this could be built into Uru, an entire archive with these videos

IIRC, that is going to be the function of the Library on Ae'Gura. A sort of repository of the events of the storyline, for those who miss things as they happen, and those who sign up at a later date.

yes but how are they going to put it there? by reading? thats what i have done for years, but only these videos are conveying the feeling to me of how it was there, and thats why i hope that the museum or any other place will include imagers (with music, of course), telling the story since prologue

Sidestepping from the topic

This is total speculation.... just a GUESS...

... but consider how Harry Potter is able to experience events through Dumbledore's memory sieve in the Harry Potter novels. He is like a ghost, unable to change how an event unfolds... but he can see the event, and live it, walk around and explore everything about it.

Not dry text.

Not even a boring, flat, unmoveable video.

It's reliving an event in 3D.

Wouldn't that be cool?

Back on topic

It's wonderful to see the response to the videos. I'd like to forewarn people that some time will pass before Episode 2 comes out (don't expect an episode once per week... we can't keep up that pace). But we are committed to deliver!
