Shorah!

I have recently begun a project, inspired by various posts on the now defunct Language Lyst, which aims to accurately reconstruct a regular proto-D'ni language (which should technically be called pre-D'ni, but proto-D'ni sounds better), which can explain various things about the language. For example, why is the pronoun system so irregular? Why is the script the way it is? All of these things, and more, are about to be explained!

Yes, that did sound just like some movie trailer. >.<

Who's interested in seeing more of this project?

Ur-D'ni?

Old Ronay? Proto-Ronay?

("Proto" is the right prefix, I think, in analogy to Proto-Indo-European.)

Sorry, I'm posting about Greek roots rather than your idea... I am interested. I know that linguistics is a complicated field, though -- never mind constructed-linguistics, never mind *re*-constructed-linguistics!

Well, I'm calling it proto-D'ni. That's that.

However, I have 0 reference to any other historical event, so I can't pinpoint when this would have been spoken, and indeed, there is only so far I can go. If Terahnee were significantly different to D'ni, then I could have a stab at reconstructing late Ronay, and thence what would have been spoken at whatever date you wanted (more or less).

And, to be perfectly honest, building languages is easy. Taking con-langs and constructing hypothetical ancestors and almost impossible. However, if I had support from people willing to lend a hand, it might just work...
