A Question Of Terminology: after Chesterton, on Uru Live
Opinions expressed are not necessarily those of the writer; the poem just went that way...
If I were an explorer
I would seek a path untrod
To find in empty places
A nearer path to God.
But Fred is an Explorer
And every day is seen
Exploring in the places
Where everyone has been.
If I were an explorer
My kit would be complete
With rope and tools and torches
Festooned from head to feet.
But Tom is an Explorer
For the good old DRC,
And seems to be content with
A Relto book and KI.
If I were an explorer
I would be brave and bold
And fear no heat of desert sun
Nor ocean's bitter cold.
But Jim is an Explorer
Of a rather different stamp;
Just hear him rant and rave when
He gets his trousers damp.
Now who that writes can read it,
This riddle of the Age
Of why these fine Explorers
Should never leave their cage?
But I, I cannot read it
Although I write and write,
Of those who hate the prisoned dark
But never seek the light.
