Open Source has arrived.

PlasmaClient is a replacement client for MOULa (and in theory MagiQuest, though I don't encourage anyone to try it!). The development is very early, and things are often changing but there is a windows installer available, as well as a port in MacPorts (thanks to ryandesign). Check out the website for screenshots, more information, and installation instructions.

For up-to-the-minute feature news, you should follow me on twitter at http://twitter.com/branan.

PlasmaClient now connects to the network servers, but multiplayer is limited to your Neighborhood. The city will be enabled in public builds when I consider PlasmaClient sufficiently stable and feature-complete to be used in public areas. PlasmaClient still does NOT write to your vault, so it is still safe to test it with your regular avatar.

yeah, the server is in my bedroom and I had to change which outlet it was plugged into so I could get one of those stupid wall-wart transformers plugged in >_>. It's back now.

I'm impressed by how much it is rendering correctly.

I'll be even more impressed when it can correctly render the things that the real Plasma Client does incorrectly. ;)

Actually, that would require a KI, which I notice is conspicuously absent from the current screenshots. Possibly not implemented yet?

I was wondering just out of curiosity, does this Plasma Client allow you edit aspects of the game engine? I'm really not sure what the focus of this is :?

Think of it like...it's a drop-in replacement for the client we currently use. Except this one works harder, better, faster, stronger.

I'm not sure. One hopes they understand it, appreciate it for what it is, and thank Branan for his contribution and acknowledge his mad skillz. If anything this will be a rather poignant reminder of the unstoppable train of MO:UL towards open source and that there's still time to hop on board.

Wow!!! Great and powerful words, OHB... what a wonderful wake-up call... :D

Besides that I have to say that I don't understand very much of Plasma
clients/servers/engines, but I feel and believe that what is happening here
is something great, something outstanding and phenomenal, and that there
are passionate professionals at work here who know what they're doing...

This way I at least wanted to raise my voice and my toast to this...
Kudos, dear ones, keep up with those amazing efforts and results
and thanks a lot for everything... :)
