Just so you know, the first release of iRiven, will be the iPhone/iPod touch version. . .the HD version for iPad will come some time later. (although the first version will be playable on iPad it is not HD)

I will buy an iPad just for iRiven HD. However I would gladly wait for this ambitious update to be released for the Mac and PC platform one of these days. Just think, we can simply distribute the game through downloads (Steam does it) and with the added grunt of computers the visuals could be slightly updated with 3D accelerated graphical effects such as those seen from Myst IV Revelation (dust particles, cloud shadows, ocean sprays) and 5.1 surround sound.

Except that the link at the top right for Stoneship actually takes you to a Manhole page. :P

Hey Mystdee, can I look for it before the end of the year? I like to have an idea. Who can forget how many weeks it took to approve Myst on iOS!

The website needs some polish, but I love this picture:
Image
HQ Riven... I would spend £20 for this on PC!

I'm really glad to see progress here. I know you guys have been working on this project for a while and that it's coming out later than you were planning.

The fact that you managed to squeeze the game down to a mere 2x Myst size is neat. :P

I have an iPad and now an iPhone 4 just begging for Riven on it. Myst is waiting outside of any Folder for the day I can create my D'ni folder.

I'm always fascinated by that picture. If that's the quality of the renders for the HD version then I'd be buying an iPad immediately.

To be fair, that particular picture of the Maglev has existed in a high res form for quite some time, as it's one of the large images in "From Myst to Riven."

What I want to know is this: Is the iPhone version a Retina enhanced version to take advantage of the iPhone 4's Retina display. If so, then the iPhone version will technically be using graphics nearly the same resolution as images on the iPad version. I'm thinking they will probably be played in landscape mode, so that's 960*640 on the iPhone (if Retina enhanced) and 1024X768 for the iPad. Either way, it's Riven in a much higher quality than previously seen, especially with modern compression methods being used to allow better image and video quality and superior color depth.

Will the iPhone version use the full resolution of the iPhone 4's screen, or will it be like Myst?

I'd love to see an HD rerelease of Riven on PC. I can't buy an iPad just for HQ Riven (I would, I just can't afford it), but I'd buy a Riven HD for PC, no question.

It is very very close!

We have a GoldMaster build that the testers are testing as I type. If there are no show stoppers, we should be able to make the submittal to Apple on Friday! (and then it is about 10 days after that before it reaches the AppStore).

w00t!

(BTW the beta testers, who are your fellow forum mates, did a really great job!)

Thanks,
Chogon
