Actually that was just someone bumping a poll from five years ago. The forum for technical discussion will have to do fine for now. ;)

We've created an instance of the Atlassian JIRA management tool for people to sample. It is popular as a bug/issue tracking system, as well as a more general project management tool.

It is a commercial product, but it is available at no cost (but licensed) to open-source projects. We currently have a 30-day evaluation license for our test period.

The OpenURU Evaluation JIRA can be accessed at http://foundry.openuru.org/jira.

You will need to log into JIRA to use it. Either use the predefined username demo with password also demo, or click the "sign-up" link under the login name box to create your own user. The demo user is already assigned as a developer for a demo project, but if you want to use your own username (and perhaps manage a different trial project) let us know and we'll create the right linkages and permissions.

See how it pans out. It might help to have a new, neutral meeting place without previous history attached.

It paning out refers to "OpenUru.org" and I believe the "neutral meeting place" part may still hold true even more so today.
Time and Cyan alone will decide many things either way by what they decide to do or not do.

Some are for Cyan to say "what is what" and others say "it won't matter" or Cyan won't say or do anything.
Let the MOUL Game with possibly Open Source content, tools and code begin! :P

OpenURU.org is pleased to welcome OHB and his OHBot project to its list of community contributors.

OHB has worked with Cyan to obtain permission for his project. And he is opening his OHBot project for community development.

OpenURU.org is providing forums, blog space, and issue tracking to OHB and his project in support of community development efforts for Uru.

You do not need a forum account to view the OHBot forums. You do need an account to contribute to discussion. For anti-spam purposes, you will need to elevate yourself to a regular member. See OHB's instructions in his "Introduction: Welcome/How to Post" thread in his project lobby, here:

OpenUru.org has acquired an open source unlimited user license to all Atlassian installable tools. This includes JIRA, GreenHopper, FishEye, Crucible and Clover. At the moment JIRA + GreenHopper are installed, and we're looking what we can do with the rest. We should be able to apply Clover toward Ant and Maven and integrate to Hudson for CI. We'll be tying repo access from JIRA to our SVN repo, and both to the Hudson factory. With the IDE Connector, you can "connect to JIRA, Bamboo, Crucible and FishEye directly from Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA and Visual Studio." I'm hoping we'll have some instructions on use and work flow at some point.

In the past, we were limited to our 10 user license and had to allow anonymous issue reports. But that was turned off because of spamming, so the JIRA instance wasn't too useful. With unlimited users, we are now public again and open for registrations; no anonymous usage. If spammers proceed to register to spam, JIRA will become private again or we will do some antispam, but accounts will remain open to all who request them.

What does all this mean to you? Free enterprise class open source development tools for the Myst/Uru community.

Mantis also remains available at OpenUru.org.

P.S. Due to a surge in wiki spam, I have added a phpBB authentication wiki extension. Anyone can view the wiki, but users are now required to have a (free) membership to the forums and join themselves to the forum "Members" usergroup to log into and edit the wiki. The normal wiki email validation, independent from the forums, also is required.

Cyan has kindly implemented a Cavern Status convention for us which allows us to graphically display the Cavern Status on OpenUru.org or any other website.

Browse to http://openuru.org/ to see our cute status light along with the status message under the menu.

Also, and far more significantly, we have an exciting new project coming soon to OpenUru.org. More details later!

Details indeed. This is something I'd love to be able to add to the PlasmaClient launcher

It's terribly, terribly simple, which is why Cyan approved. ;)

All we're doing is showing a nice little green, yellow, or red status light along with the status message on our web pages at OpenUru.org. For that we needed a single character to precede the message, which is why it's a "convention," not a protocol. I wanted to do this for MQO, but it never got to the top of our to-do list, simple as it is. We also include a link to the MOUL website's Play page in our masthead to promote Uru and hopefully help Cyan in return.

Again, see here for an example:
http://openuru.org

Today during the logon restrictions, for example, the light turned yellow. I'm sure this might underwhelm the techie crowd, but I think being able to see the Cavern Status while perusing a website without launching the client is a nice touch.

Here's the convention:
Code:
* = Open for exploration! (normal operation)
! = Restrictions (for example, when the servers are up, but logons are restricted)
# = Closed for repair (servers are down)
<anything else> = Open

If anyone else uses this, I would hope they also include the link to Sign up to play at MystOnline.com!

Wow, that is technologically underwhelming :P

Which also makes it really easy to implement in the PlasmaClient launcher (/me adds to his todo list for 0.0.5)

You'd need the ability to run server-side code. I'll put something together so people can put it on their own sites without having to worry about that.

OHB's "MO:UL Statistics" link is interesting... I think it'd be worth discussing.
