Very sad, worrying news to me.

I'll admit that I pretty much forgot about MQO after the beta.

:(

It had seemed kind of inevitable. There didn't really seem to be the required uptake during the early months and recently the MQ forums haven't showed much sign of discussion related to the online game.

Yes Ethan, an MQO party might be a good idea :)

Awww, that's a shame. I would have liked to see new portals and adventures, too. It was a lot of fun. Thanks to Cyan and MagiQuest for letting us play in this magical world, and thanks to JWPlatt for bringing them together to create it. :)

Wow. Too bad. It was a hoot to be in the testing phase for the game, and to do some voice work for it. JW, thanks for the opportunity!

Thanks for the update, JW, depressing though it may be. I really enjoyed the testing phase. Yes, it was different from Uru - but it was meant to be different, and I was fine with it.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to be a part of MQO!

I bought the game when it became available, and enjoyed exploring new environments. I don't remember ever running into other players online, so a gathering in-world would be of immense interest to me. (Was it simply bad timing on my part, or did I have a setting wrong?) We have only a few weeks left to get one organized!

My fantasy would be to have the assets ported somewhere, so we could continue to wander around the environments, even without the quests and characters of the online game. I know, I know, the licensing and ownership issue is a nightmare, and it is probably impossible, which is why I called it a fantasy. I hate to think about the woods going dark forever.

Even LEGO Universe shut down after only a relatively short time, and it was very busy in the game right up until the end. I definitely didn't expect that to end. MMO's fail all the time. It just seems to be really, REALLY hard to compete in that business.

I think the biggest problem in all of these games is the speed with which most players run through the content and end up in a somewhat bored "what else is there to do" state. Basically you quit when the content dries up; so when the content dries up so does the income. A game that is not subscription based (like guild wars) can only survive on sales and secondary income (GW sells "stash space", "character slots", "character makeovers", and all sorts of vanity items for real money).

Even then, a new release of content is the biggest influx of cash. Players are like eternally hungry little birds that keep asking for more worms, er, I mean content :(

What a bummer, I still have the game on my Desktop, (at least until they pull the plug) It was fun testing that back in the early stages and always hoped it would expand but alast like other things it goes to the history books.

If anyone is thinking of a "Farewell Party" for MQO then time is running out ;)

I think it'd be awesome, but I'm a lousy party organizer...
