I've seen that Cyan is listing Myst V in their Products page. Does that mean the rights to that have been cleared up and Cyan can do what they wish with that content? If so, publish the game on Steam?

Not sure how recent this is, I recall discussions about them getting their righs back around 2008 or so.

"Rights" appears to not be one gigantic package deal. There are some rights, and there are other rights, and there are yet more rights. The Ubisoft deal through 2008 was for exclusive publishing rights of new games from Cyan Worlds. Read that as you will. Maybe Cyan got content rights back, maybe they didn't. The most limited way to read it is the "exclusive" part, where Ubisoft could still have rights to games released under that contract, but not exclusively. And that was just one deal announced in a PR release. There could have been others. Fans would probably prefer to think Cyan got back all rights free and clear, but that seems unlikely.

Hmm... That's interesting... I can't say I paid a whole lot of attention to the list on the left hand side of the Products page recently, but Myst V is still not mentioned in the "Where to buy..." section in the main body. And the Legal page still lists Myst V under "Non Cyan Products" :?

Exactly Mac; Rand mentioned at Mysterium though that they were still talking to Ubisoft about getting their distribution rights back. (He also touched on Hex Isle, but he said it was a bit more complicated to get those rights back since it dealt with a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.) He also mentioned that they were trying to get get Ubisoft to re-release Myst III and Myst IV on digital distribution platforms. So maybe they'll get everything worked out in a year or two, maybe not.
