That's nice to hear. I loved MYSTlore when it was up. It initially helped me learn a lot about the Myst universe several years ago.

I actually just got an email back from Chucker who runs the site and he says he is planning on sifxing it. So that's some good news.

That indeed is good news. Problem is that there would be THREE Myst wikis then. And having all of them just mind their own business definetely wouldn't be the right thing.

Diversity isn't a problem. Depth allows any one or two to go down while still retaining at least one resource. There's also competition possible which can be quite stimulating to quality. No diversity equals a fragile ecosystem more prone to failure, leaving us without anything.

With Mystlore now gone, I want to do what I can to preserve as much information as possible.
So I am going to start work on a project to collect as much info about MOULa & Uru as possible.
Walkthroughs, tips, canon ... everything.
The project I have in mind won't be a website, so it won't rely on someone keeping a website going

But I don't know it all, so I need help to do this.
How can you help? Send me links to anything about Uru or MOULa
I am wanting as much info as possible whether it is canon, background story, walkthroughs or tips or anything else you think is information.

Where can you send this information?
PM me here on this forum
PM me on the Sleepers forum
or email me [email protected] and put the subject of your email as "Uru Info"

I thank you in advance for any information you help me with.
Please don't ask me for any details about what I have in mind, you will find out when it's ready.

Alien

Alien, you might want to fix your e-mail address so that the bots don't get it. Write it as "alien at guildofsleepers dot org" Humans will be able to decipher it.

I hope it can be fixed and will return. I always had the best intentions of contributing to the explorer/character pages, but never got around to it. Unfortunately, none of them are saved in the Wayback Machine. Does anyone know of any other sites that have pages on Explorers?

Well, yes, I see the Character pages, but what I'm really interested in are Explorer pages. Over the last ten years, many fans have made invaluable contributions to Uru and the community. We wouldn't still be here if it wasn't for their collective efforts. Many of them have moved on to other endeavors or are no longer with us, so it would be nice to know they're remembered for their contributions. And, many of them are still here with us, but their accomplishments unknown to new explorers, so it would be nice to have that documented as a reference for newcomers. Our history is more than just what Cyan created and should be documented.

Shorah everyone,

I agree Tai'lahr, there have been numerous explorers who have become a part of Cavern history in one way or another, and it would be nice to ensure they are added to the "official" records.

Regarding mystlore, if Alien hasn't already done so, it would be nice to salvage the records we still have available at the Wayback Machine. It would be even nicer to integrate them into a usable wiki form (such as adding them to MystAges), though I'm by no means volunteering for the job! ;) (I've already got 'way too many projects as it is and am having trouble keeping up with them all!)

I see no reason why you couldn't make pages concerning specific explorers as long there were some established boundaries. (Like we don't need pages for explorers who have just only just played the game and completed it or ones with the record amount of times they have done a door run.) But yes, I am aware of such explorers and I defiantly agree that their history is defiantly worth an article or two.

What would the boundaries be?

The boundaries would be that only explorers who are important to the community should have an article. For example nobody cares if some random explorer found the Minkata ball. People who organize large community events or other importat things do deserve an article though.

Well you could use the Wikipedia guidelines for notability modified for our circumstances.
Something like "The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record." (such as any explorer who plays a significant role in the heritage documents, began some tradition, or organized a long lasting Guild or recurring event) and " The person is known for creating a significant new concept, theory or technique" (as in skydiving, marker games or understanding of the D'ni)
