Well, I s'pose some of us could take this as good news: the pair above went for $50-- the prior pair I saw on Ebay several months ago, went for around $60.

So, hey... maybe as the highest bidder gets 'eliminated' each time, the next pair will go for a little less?

Maybe we can find them at garage/yard sales.

The goggles don't seem to be too old of a model, it may be productive to check small-business ski shops and the like (if you're in the right area). You never know. ;)

I've scoured the internet for anything remotely similar...

I think another poster already shared this link:

http://www.steampunkemporium.com/store/002686S.php

These seem to be about the closest anybody gets to the style. These,or those Harry Potter Quidditch goggles...

I just found a pair that sold this month:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cebe-500-Very ... 1069143360

Hopefully I get lucky enough to find an active sale!

It's always clear skies and sun in San Diego and it'd be a good way to introduce people to Myst!

Well, I finally gave up on the Cebe model, broke down & found a pair I consider a suitable substitute:

Pugs 'action sports' goggles.

http://pugsgear.com/p-721-pugs-action-s ... -lens.aspx

Actually, the pair i bought doesn't match the pic from the page above... they have more of a lip that completely surrounds the lens, and makes them look a lot more 'retro'. Truth be told, they are a little more industrial-looking than the Cebe model.. but after weeks of digging thru shops & websites looking for a pair with some character, these were the only ones I found that screamed "D'ni" at me.

I've been aiming for this one, hopefully the bidding stays reasonable. ;)

Edit - Now the proud owner of these! I've been intrigued by D'ni goggles for years now, and will be very happy to have an official pair. I may post a pic or two when they arrive.

In the vein of sharing, there are some great D'ni-like (or steampunk) handmade goggles here -

http://www.atomefabrik.com/pages_goggles/steampunk.htm

I've got a pair in the brass glacier style and they're beautifully made, I can't recommend AtomeFabrik enough.

Congratulations!!! I'm so glad you could get a pair, and at such a cheap price!!! 8) I'm only slightly envious that you got them at a cheap price, but at my time of purchase, I thought the goggles were less common than now. (I still stand by my previous price. I still got them at a pretty good deal.)

Wow, I didn't know so many Myst fans were still looking for a pair! We may end up creating a demand for these on eBay that no one else will be able to explain!
