I personally would love to hear it.
I also think the older radio presentations are great.
I will do my best to be there.
Thanks Alien for a great idea.

I have these on audio cassette, I remember listening to them as a kid one time when I was sick in bed for several days. Good stuff. Fun note - Ian Holm does the voice of Frodo. (He played Bilbo in the movies, of course). Some other great actors did voicework as well, including Bill Nighy. Good stuff, reminds me I keep meaning to rip the tapes onto my computer and convert them to cds... :)

Sounds like a lot of fun as I have never heard the old stuff from the Beeb. Looking forward to it 8)

I suspect this is for copyright reasons.

Difficult to argue with the BBC, if it is them that are raising the objection.

I will say that the 1968 studio recordings of The Hobbit were wiped by the BBC and that the extant copies have been rescued from domestic copies of the original broadcasts. In my opinion the BBC has no rights to exercise over this recovered material, but I am Not A Lawyer.

The 1981 Lord Of The Rings radio series has no such problems, and the BBC is the copyright holder.

Not sure how to resolve this. It may be worth asking how much a broadcast license would cost. It may not be out of reach, if we could fund it from the Myst family
