how difficult would that be and where can I go to learn more about this?

That's a complicated question. It involves scripting, so it would depend on how much you know about that or how fast you could learn. I just know that I've seen it done by a couple of people I know in the Uru community there. I'll see if I can get more information from them.

For any one thinking of going to Second LIfe. It is different :D remember too it is a sim. The controls to move and teleport are very much different than MOULa.
The best way I found to do things is use the default avatar. Plenty of time to fix yourself up later :). If I might suggest find the map control or landmarks and places control to search out places. when you find the search part type in Dini Village or some other URU thing. I was able to find r'Tayrtahns place of learning fairly easy. :) Any SL Uruite might be able to explain the controls better than I seeing how I am just sticking my toes in da water. What I have seen so far is very nice and I can see where a lot of work and time was put in to these creations. :) Best of luck onyour adventure into SL.

Speaking of Escher builds, evidently one was recently made according to this Prim Perfect article

In general most virtual worlds have limits on gravity control. There is an OpenSim version that allows a point, sphere, or cylinder to be the gravity orientation. So, when using a cylinder on can walk on the inside or outside surface and physical objects will fall toward the cylinder walls. As far as I know, none of these options are available in SL. However, via scripting it can be faked.

Take a look at Citysphere. This is a spherical build in Second Life. The script is keeping the avatar oriented to the spherical surface. You can visit the build in SL here.

The navigation controls are wacky and so too are some of the camera controls. I had to use the arrow keys and still had some problems. They say one can switch in and out of ‘subjective’ mode to correct the view and camera orientation. I never figured out what ‘subjective mode’ is. When things went wacko I walked toward the street surface and eventually things corrected.

Like many hacks of a system, it doesn’t work all that well.

But, I suppose something like Escher’s stairs could be done using a similar process.

(Just a small remark in parentheses: Escher's house already exists in Uru as a fan age.)

Just a note ... I'd make the distinction between Escher from Myst V and M. C. Escher.
I know it might seem obvious, but someone is bound to confuse the two.

I'm a bit of a fan of M C Escher ...

Here's a few suggestions if anyone is brave enough to take them on :D

You're right; people already confuse the spelling. Esher in Myst V - no "c" in the name.

The character from Myst V is Esher.
The famous Dutch artist is Maurits Cornelis Escher.
;-)

EDIT oops, I see Tai'lahr posted just before me.

Uru and Sl are quite different but as said above you can find the beauty if you are not too quick to judge without knowing
there is everything on Sl the good the bad and the ugly ... choose to build beautiful things there, anyone can do it and the help is there the builders are extremely helpful and friendly
You even find people ready to help you with blender . or 3Dmax. I have never found this kind of help on Uru .
Each place has their plus and minus , it is different but SL is worth a second look if you really are interested in learning building and script the easier way !

Hehe - SL can be truly beautiful - with beautiful people, and beautiful surrounds -- or it can be truly horrible. nasty people - and truly ugly surrounds. o-o

I run my own place in SL - The SaloN =) It is a beautiful place... are the people beautiful? I think so. But.. I don't presume to make those judgements for you. We have fun - and we care about eachother - and for me, that's what matters. =)

To note - One side of the SaloN is a club - the other a support and family group. =)

But here's a few pics of our Club o-o And none of these images are altered in any way out of game. =)

Honour posts lots of pictures of SL. While some of the places are striking Cityscape is uniquely strange for for SL.

Most really odd worlds, like the cylinder world of Rendezvous with Rama (Arthur C. Clarke) which was or is in SL, use illusion. The worlds seldon script the game to allow spherical or cylindrical worlds. But, good illusions are fun and I think often show more creativity.
