So in the trailer that Cyan *Showed* at Mysterium this year, Cyan used a track that I'm pretty sure came from one of their games.

Can someone tell me what the name of the track is exactly? Because Youtube seems to think it's some track called "Forgotten Island" from some company I've never even heard of, and is giving me trouble about copyright stuff. Any help on that would be appreciated.

EDIT: Basically, I just need to know if Youtube is being full of it or not so I can contest the claim if it's inaccurate, or accept it if it is accurate.

EDIT2: Thanks to Ainia's quick research, I'm going with the assumption that "Forgotten Island" is an alternate track name to Myst 5 Soundtrack's track 16 "Myst" and that "Rumblefish" is the production company for the soundtrack. So I'm accepting the claim as accurate. That said, however, you'd THINK youtube would actually link to the song in question incase they got the WRONG TRACK?? Sigh. whatever. Could have saved me a lot of trouble if they did that.

EDIT3: Did I really say that Cyan put it together?? UGH. Freaking Stupid brain slip-up. Just what I needed this week. Some social faux paus because I put a sentence together incorrectly. >_<;

Can you give us a link to the trailer you are referring to, because I can't work out exactly what it is you mean.... The various Mysterium videos that you and Draaloff have put up don't seem to have anything that matches your description. I have all the Myst soundtracks so I should be able to match it up once I know what it is you're trying to identify :)

I *know* they didn't, but they showed it. I just wanted* to know what the song (starting here) WAS.

Edit: Good Grief. Did I SERIOUSLY say that cyan put it together? UGH. >_<; that's JUST what I freakin' needed this week. A poorly worded sentence put together in a hasty rush causing me grief. Freakin. Fantastic. >_<;;

EDIT2: I'm fairly certain the song is from the Myst 5 Soundtrack ("Myst"), and just has an alternate title under Youtube's flagging system, so this thread's fairly useless now... >_<; ugh. this is what happens when I do things in a panicked rush. *grumble grumble grumble*

Ah, the MOULa announcement. Yes, that is Tim Larkin's "Myst", track 16 from his Myst V - End of Ages soundtrack album.

As for YouTube's confusion, I'm not sure where you are getting the information from - one of the music search engines?

I'll screenshot the complaint...Just a minute, and I'll edit it into this post.

EDIT: here's what Youtube is saying the track is called.

Rumblefish again? They are in the business of abusive (i.e. fraudulent) copyright claims. e.g., extortion

See this for some entertainment:

Should I dispute it then? I really don't want to go through the hassle of it, but if I should...I mean...If they AREN'T Legitimately complaining, then...Should I dispute it?

Absolutely. If the music is Cyan's, there's virtually no chance they are going to support a third party claim against a loyal and helpful fan like you, especially if the third party (Rumblefish) has no rights to Cyan property.

Okay, I'll try to see if there's a way I can tell Youtube it's the wrong song they're trying to ID it as.... but there's no option to tell them that it's not the song they claim it to be. What option should I dispute with?

By the way, why do they do this? To make money from other people's property:

See the ad on your video? Bingo.

Various ads. The notice you got has a link to dispute instructions. It might lead to something like this:
https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2797454?hl=en

It might not be an easy process, so your success may depend on your persistence, your sense of justice, and how much time you think it is worth. You might also consider communicating with [email protected] about it to see if they have an interest.

I filed a complaint under "Fair Use" and said:

Quote:
Rumblefish has made an incorrect claim. The song in this video is NOT "Forgotten Island" by "Rumblefish." it is "Myst" from the Myst 5 Soundtrack, produced by Tim Larkin. The name is not correct; therefore their claim is NOT correct and is in error. If you are willing to change the Content Flag TO the correct information, I am fine with it as long as any Ad revenue money goes to Cyan Worlds, the company that made the game the song originally came from, although I would very much PREFER there to be No advertisement on there at all as this claim should never have been filed in the first place.

I hope that's alright... -_-;

I'll fire an Email off when my internet stabilizes enough from video uploading.

Funny stuff here. I had this same issue some time ago, when I uploaded one of my DIRT videos. Content Licensing. The issue was eventually dropped when I kindly informed them in my response that the video in song in question was actually owned and published by Cyan Worlds. That however involved an Uru song, while this one invloves a Myst V song. However since both sound tracks and games publishing rights belong to Cyan you should be able to use the same defense of "Fair Use, blah blah blah, song published by Cyan Worlds inc in their game blah blah blah".
