This thread is intended to record what is the current active realm. Please Sticky

I don't know who is going to maintain it.

I know of the majestic realm/session at the present.

Current active: blorfloog1077

I spent some time in the Majestic Realm yesterday evening. The River Lady behaved herself, but I noticed that when I cast on the cliff wall symbol using the Chisel Rune, I was stuck in first person (I assume), and was unable to see any of the message above. By the time control was returned, the message was gone.

That, and the ongoing lack of Golems, was about the only issue. Well, okay - there was one other thing. The Forest was laggy during one visit. I think there were only two of us in-realm, but walking anywhere was stuttery, and the Quest Stone videos were choppy and went out of sync. Things seemed to return to normal when I went back to the Clan Courtyard and returned. I really don't think it was hardware-related; even though I've maxed all my settings (mwahaahaaaa), performance is normally quite smooth, with the occasional hint of lagginess; but even so, less than what I was seeing in the Woods.

On a funny note, I got curious in the Outpost, and found that you can climb up the side of the owl's tree and look the wise old thing right in the eye.

Mowog,
I want to reply, but I feel this isn't the right place, so maybe this will get moved. When I use the chisel, I revert to 1st person if I was using 1st before using the rune. Then I use the right mouse button to tilt up and see the writing.

I also have noted lag in the forest, and have played with resolutions to change it. I'm on a smaller wide resolution to reduce the lag. Is this something that should be ticketed, or is it just a bandwidth problem?

I also have stood up on the owl's hole while he's talking. Lots of places to jump and climb on. The trickiest I've found is jumping on top of the Quest Stone in the middle of the "good" side of he woods.

Thanks for the reply, Rik. Good points!

And you're right, my post was a bit off the subject of the thread. Sorry! I guess what I was meaning to say was that Majestic appears to be the current active Realm, due to the recurring glitches in Blorfloog.

By the way, I'd just like to remind you all that you have Nyrphy to blame for all your Blorfloog troubles.

I'll bet it has something to do with her influence and all the poetry in MagiQuest.

I think, if you read the post by Tor'i carefully, we're advised to stay clear of all old named sessions, essentially as they may be carrying defects we can't see even if the Pixie/Lady issues appear OK. Problem is knowing which sessions are "old", but darkstar did satrt to catalogue some in the earlier stages:
http://mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic. ... 164#299164

That would suggest that Majestic should be avoided too.

Now, this is really boring but how about using the current build number as the "main" multiplayer session name, i.e. "1.1077" for now. That would also help ensure some isolation of build related effects as we go through subsequent builds :?:

Mac, I don't see an instruction for us to number our sessions. Since location instances are numbered anyway, wouldn't it be better to name a session and list the location instance numbers that go with it?

Tor'i didn't say how to name the sessions or to refrain from using numbers - only that "testing be done in newly created (named) sessions." I like Mac_Fife's idea. It guarantees that testing in a multiplayer realm is relevant to the build. If you have a fondness for Blorfloog, you could still call it Blorfloog1.1077. ;)

I don't think there was any instruction to number sessions, although as I was skimming the threads earlier I think someone had taken that interpretation. People can name sessions as they like. I'm just trying to offer a simple way to make sure that the instance in use is reasonably recent, with the added bonus that it can help tie observed issues in to a particular client build that was in use at the time. And the login screen handily carries a little reminder of the build number, so you can't forget the session name

Edit: I meant to add - There's probably no need to record instance numbers, now that we have some understanding of how they're working. Cyan can readily look them up using the session name (after all, that's what the game does). Hmm, might be handy to record the numbers for a nameless, personal session though.

'.' is OK in a session name. I've done that before, "1.1077" would work :D

But I'm cool with blorfloog1077.

Well, I'm there right now. Rusty_Russell passed through a little while ago, but I was doing something else and kind of missed him.
