I started getting this with this build in my XP Pro installation. I run a Comodo firewall and I just discovered that shutting that off lets the game work. If I don't shut it off it goes normally to the point of the MQ with the five strings of five beads rotating around the MQ in the center of the screen, stopping and starting. The stop and then after a lengthy wait it errors out. What program do I need to tell my firewall to allow?

thanks,
Lightkeeper

Edit: I fixed it. I ran MQ in a window and then turned on Comodo. It immeadiately asked if it should allow MQExplorer.exe so I tried to say yes but couldn't get the cursor out of the windowed game and it ended up Network 6 error. I repeated the process and lucked out getting my cursor over to the allow check box in Comodo.

How do you get out of the windowed game to be able to do other stuff? I found I can use the Window key and that gets it out but is there another way?

Thanks,

LK

In Network Security Policy - Advanced - Aplication rules you must add: C:\Program Files\MagiQuest Online\MQExplorer.exe as trusted appilication.

I hope this resolves your problem.

Hi veralun,

Thank you for the help. I think I fixed it by playing in a windowed mode and then turning on Comodo. It immeadiately asked if I MQExplorer.exe should be allowed and after finding a way to get my cursor out of the game window over to the allow check box I resolved the problem. I was surprised this was the problem because I had looked at the applications list and a couple listings for MQExplorer.exe were already in the list checked for allow. I guess the file may change in each new build and therefore need new permission.

Requiring new permissions when an application is updated is a common problem.

Further, anyone who has a problem with unseen firewall prompts because of how MQExplorer behaves, either because the client is full screen and prevents the firewall prompt from being seen, or because the client takes too much control, should send in a ticket. Marten originally sent me a complaint on firewall problems and I'd like to see them resolved, especially for less experienced users. Your tickets about firewall issues will help to achieve that.

R EMBER YOUR UNDER AN NDA

i also had this with myst online with game tap every time there was and update i had to put the app in the firewall again this also happened with some other apps i was runing. i was able to send a ticket to the maker of the firewall and one day i did not have to do it again and i have not had to do it with MQO.

NOTE: DO NOT SEND any thing to the maker of the your firewall you will break YOUR NDA. If this is something cyan can not fix. ONLY AFTER the game has been release to the public should you send info to the maker of your firewall and even then you may want to wait until they release and update or 2.

sry about the CAPS just want to make sure no one breaks there NDA.
