Per instructions from Tor'i, I uninstalled MQO and using the new installer from the ftp site, I reinstalled MQO.

Before MQO worked fine, now it doesn't work.

What should I try now?

I click on the MagiQuest Online on my desktop using Run as Administrator. The Welcome box comes on saying Initializing patcher. That is where it stops.

I'm running Vista x64. I downloaded to a temporary directory on my D:\ drive and double-clicked on the exe. I didn't use run as administrator but I still have UAC turned on. It's working fine for me.

I don't run from my desktop and try to use C:\ only for my OS.

I, also, am running Vista x64. I downloaded the installer to my Download folder ( on my C:/ drive - I only have the C:/ drive and a very small virtual D:/ drive for recovery files), I ran the installer from the Download folder. The icon on my desktop is a shortcut to the MQOLauncher.exe file. I have tried running the Launcher file both from the shortcut and from the file itself - same result either way.

Have you got run as administrator on the shortcut or the exe?

No problem for me with Vista x64 with reinstalling
I useEd run as an administrator and I'd set security also on full control for my running userid just before the reinstallation, as deinstallation also had deleted the MGQ program directory.

Is your login listed as <username>@ mqobeta.com? That is important.

You can't log in if you've not installed the software, dadguy.

It ist just your Vista UserID that counts here on yout local machine not de MQO session.
Run as admin gives you all the rights needed when installing
Setting Full Controll for that Vista Userid is am extra precaution. That userid when running normaly does not have full controll rights.

My userID has "full control" for the shortcut, the MQO folder and the MQOLauncher.exe file. I also have "full control" for the MQOInstaller.exe file and the folder it is in.

I look forward to being able to get back online.

Jo, try this.

Put the .exe in a directory on C. Forget the desktop shortcut. Right-click on the exe for properties and set Run as administrator there (compatibility tab, privilege level). Double click on the exe.

Rusty,

I followed your directions and I still ended up in the same spot - installing patcher.

Any chance your firewall or antivirus software could be blocking it? Disable both and try to run it. When the version numbers have changed I've often had to reauthorize it with my firewall program.

Excellent, HenryMikel. That sounds like a winner. Hope so, anyway. ;)
