I didn't really notice this until I got into the Twisted Forest today:

In third person view, my avatar is pretty much central on the screen, which seemed fine to begin with, but it kind of restricts your view ahead and above, while leaving a big "dead" space behind the avvie. The status banner at the top of the screen makes the effect worse. When I got into the forest I kept feeling I wanted to stop to look up, which kind of detracts from getting on with the game. I feel it'd be better with a camera position that puts your avvie roughly 1/3 from the bottom of the screen rather than half-way up the screen.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Absolutely. First-person in the forest is the way to go. It's gorgeous and you can see more of what you're seeking.

You can still look up. I think you have to click and hold the right mouse key. I didn't have a problem with doing that from time to time.

Yes, Zardoz feels similarly:

And it's been mentioned several times that the avatar seems to keep itself perfectly in position to block the effect you're most interested in seeing.

Please also ticket these kinds of comments if it is important to you.

I did mark in Options - Navigation - Advanced - Pan while moving.
Works for me.

Another thing I ticketed is the sudden zoom action the camera takes in some places bringing the stairs or objects or your avatar up too close, then back out again one spot it looked like My avatar had gone from Thumbelina size to the 50 foot woman then shrank back  very weird ;)

Yeah, I was using the mouse to look up. It's not a show-stopper by any means but it's a bit of a nuisance. I can see some kids being critical of it, so I think I'll log a feature request.

I was thinking that last night, while roaming through Twisted Forest. It seems like the camera angle is pointing too much downward, not enough straight ahead, so you can see farther ahead. I will also submit a feature request. :D

I agree completely. What I'd like to see is when you change your camera angle by using the right mouse button, for it to STAY there instead of moving back down.
