I just noticed that if you forget to write them down (DOH!), there doesn't seem to be a way to go back and hear them again. Am I missing something?

Doesn't Woodsy repeat them if you click on her picture again?

Don't think Willow repeats them, Do they appear in the BOW? . . . . . seems like I remember that, but I could be wrong.
I used Fraps and made a video of the Shadow morph's speech so had them there.

They don't show in the BoW, first placed I checked. The BoW shows what Lokari says about each clan, but not what the shadow morphs say.

This could be a real game killer, actually. How many kids playing are going to have FRAPS on? We're Myst nerds, we write things down, but in the offline version, anything you need to remember is in the BoW or can be repeated via video.

A new Book of Wisdom is still a work in progress. It has video replay à la Myst book panels and transcripts to address these playability issues.

I think that you can already hear the four words more than once. I've reset my avatar, so I'll see if I'm right tomorrow.

Are you talking about Restalin, Seesh, Bromorsh, and Antog again? Just curious. I managed to memorize them...

I don't have enough neurons working fast enough for that :) I just grabbed approximations in my notes, and then guessed when they appear on the portal.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting to need to record them when I first heard it (and incorrectly assumed that they'd be in my logbook). She reads them very quickly for made-up nonsense words, and ones which (at that point) you have no context for, making it hard to write them down on short notice. Fortunately I just replayed the audio file when I needed them and discovered they weren't written down by the book that seems to have everything else of importance, but that's obviously not the ideal way to reference them.

Looking back, the delivery of the four words seems very logical, and works with the story. And my experience with all things Myst told me that I'd better keep those words in mind for later; good game design would suggest that anything you come across that sounds like a clue really IS a clue.

But I didn't write them down the first time. Only when replaying the game in the next build did I grab a pen and jot them down. I get the suspicion that they'll eventually appear in the BoW, and that's fine. Folks who are new to this sort of gaming might not catch on at first that they need to keep track of everything they see and hear, so having them in the book is a Very Good Idea.

I thought likewise, and managed to scribble down a fairly close approximation. But since there was no obvious application for the words over the next few builds, I thought I'd wasted the effort :D . Anyway, by the time it came to use them, I'd heard the speech so often that I didn't need the notes, which is a luxury we beta testers have that a real player won't. So, yes, the BoW needs to record these (since many less important things are recorded). Don't know if I'm too excited about the suggestion of video replays, though :? ... Need to think about that some more.

I think it would be fun to find a piece of paper on the ground (after the morph's speech) with the words appearing to have been scribbled down by another magi.

That's too easy, have them written in D'ni!

I was thinking of Woodsy repeating the whole scroll. :(

It would be useful if the Shadow clan leader repeated the four words in similar fashion (at least until they're recorded somewhere else).
