We're in the preliminary stages of getting MOUL back online. While we're enjoying being back in the cavern again, there are many others out there without access and consequently without hope.

To perk them up a bit, could Cyan do something minor but observable? Some examples:

- Laxman posts another 'test' post on the DRC Discussion forums
- RAWA changes the Cautious Optimism color to green
- The list of DRC Restoration Projects is brought up to date (i.e. moving all released ages to 'Open' status)
- The target year on the Myst Online Play page is changed to 2010

If Cyan does do this, the rest of us MOULagain HOULigans (thanks for the phrase, Aloys!) must refrain from pointing it out. It'll be fun to see how long it takes people to notice the slight change.

Or they can find "MOUL" on the support site. Still no public mention of that. :P

It used to be - back in the day - that new MOUL ages would be discovered first on the support site within seconds of the addition.

You know it would just increase the frequency of expectation for news from once every two to four weeks to at least every other day and a higher level of disappointment or frustration when it is not understood that Cyan can only move so fast and no faster.

Does that make me the government bad guy in the movies who would rather let everyone die in an asteroid impact while hiding miles underground in the NORAD mountain fortress than risk "panicing the public?" :P

I think you may be right JW. . . . . and no you aren't the bad guy, just being honest.

I like the points Robert mentioned.
But I have to agree with JWPlatt.
Sure everyone likes to see as much as possible updates, news and changes.
But we have to be realistic here.
Things will go in tiny steps. The manpower for MOULagain is not that big as it was before.
A good start can be an update from the Play tab.
But for the rest we are depending on the time and manpower Cyan has in this.

I'm thinking there's not much left to do before going public - see the other thread.

So, why not give some clues now?

I like the idea of building anticipation. I’m afraid that after almost two years away from the cavern, a sudden announcement that it’s open again will produce a shock to their systems. ;)

I like Robert’s ideas of placing a few teasers here and there, but that would mean work on Cyan’s part, so I think a simple post would be good.

The last update was almost two months ago: November 25th. (My how time flies when you're busy getting your own game online, huh?)

And, at that time, they said: "but to get things rolling we're trying to get a server up and running as soon as possible." So, why not just post an honest update? (Cyan, feel free to copy and paste.)

Just an update to let you know that everything is still pretty much the same as when we posted the MORE Status Report on November 25th. Just to reiterate a few points:

We just wanted to take this time to let you know that all of the roadmap is still in place and we will work on it whenever we have “free time” which is still very minimal. Getting Uru back online will have to be done in very small steps with plenty of stops and starts along the way. But, we do hope to see you all back in the cavern this year.

Very non-committal, don't you think?

Still... when the time will be ripe, those little clues scattered here and there, as in Robert's post, would be super awesome.

Well, it would sure produce a shock to the server! ;-)

Good thread, though. It really would be neat if Cyan could post an official "Things are happening" note. If nothing else, it might raise the spirits of the folks in the MOUL General forum and finally start to build anticipation instead of resignation and frustration.

Even better, I'd love to see the news broken gradually and cryptically, as it was at the very beginning of Uru. I realize things are different these days, but Cyan has always been great at telling stories, and it would be fun if MOULagain could be brought in artfully; say, with a DRC back story or some such.

Cheers,

Mowog

That video is awesome, shame he isn't textured and in front of his trailer.

I switched the ubisoft trailer out for the dancing zandi one in my offline uru installation.

You're talking about the Preafter alternate reality game, Tweek? That would be cool, albeit time and cost intensive.
