To those of you who happen to interact with the DRC members in the cavern, can I ask a small request please?

Could you post the chat logs in this thread (with timestamps and location taken if possible).

Figured it would make sense to have a central place where logs can be posted for people who read these forums to read (plus location and timestamps make archiving logs easier).

Thanks.

Do you think it would be alright to post them in the DRC site's "Share Your Journey" forums as well as here? I mean, chat logs are considered IC (since they come from the KI), right?

I suggest we don't post any initial chat logs. Keep them and save them if you like, but I believe there will be loads of OOC comments about how we will proceed that should not be shared.

Dadguy

EDIT: I thought about this a bit, and maybe if we are diligent to edit the OOC out, it might be OK. :-)

RAWA said in cavern today that posting chat logs is not necessarily a good idea in that we would then all be exposed as testers. . . . dunno maybe it's best to ask first at any rate

Mystdee's right. RAWA was pretty clear on that point - chatlogs would reveal us as testers. But, even more importantly, IMO, is that the playing field be level for everyone. If we want to play along and make IC posts, that's fine. But, then, so can everyone else - like all those folks who've been keeping the stories alive since it closed.

Doesn't stop them from being posted here though, we'll just have to keep them to ourselves.

I, much like Aloys, am going to be missing a lot of what goes on this week so it would be nice to keep up some way (plus I'm an Uru archival nut so I'd like to add such logs to my growing Uru archive on my computer).

Oh, sure, we should post them here for y'all. Sorry, was just thinking about, you know, the outside world. ;)

And, I'll start with our chat with RAWA, today - heavily edited for brevity - but still answers many questions.
(02/04 15:33:55) RAWA: I was never here...
(02/04 15:34:05) Tai'lahr: Understood.
(02/04 15:34:09) Mystdee: OK
*Ethan starts a picture taking session and KI shots are shared.*
(02/04 15:40:40) RAWA: Everyone's checking their watches. What time is it?
(02/04 15:41:39) JWPlatt: Time to say hello to the mysterious stranger?
(02/04 15:41:57) RAWA: Time to get a new fence.
(02/04 15:42:24) JWPlatt: One word: wire cutters. Oh, that's two...
(02/04 15:42:30) Tai'lahr: Thank you for including us in this.
(02/04 15:42:30) EthanEver: i CANT go to sleep now
(02/04 15:42:41) Gimlet: FEnce? Fence?!
(02/04 15:42:47) Mystdee: any DRC posts yet? :D
(02/04 15:42:52) Gimlet: Like cleft volcano fence?
(02/04 15:43:12) RAWA: So, are the OOC things we need to clear up before things begin?
(02/04 15:44:01) Tai'lahr: Well, I guess once the characters come, it's okay for us to post chatlogs of their appearance?
(02/04 15:44:10) Gimlet: The pellet scores will ahve to clear from the imagers, if it's important that the "opening" be "clean"
(02/04 15:44:43) JWPlatt: I think unautheorized explorers can drop pellets too. ;)
(02/04 15:44:50) Mystdee: willwe only be posting these things in the DRC Forums or is a MOUL forum post OK?
(02/04 15:45:15) Tai'lahr: My concern is that we not cross any lines we shouldn't as testers when posting to the forums.
(02/04 15:46:34) RAWA: Hmm...chatlogs will be a problem if you all are not going to reveal you were testers
(02/04 15:46:35) EthanEver: i'll play along anything you decide
(02/04 15:46:49) Tai'lahr: Another thing is JW's point about us being "unauthorized" so we're more like to hide from the DRC instead of rushing up to chat with them.
(02/04 15:47:03) Tai'lahr: Okay, that answered that question.
(02/04 15:47:42) Mystdee: are we NOT going to be revealed if we post that we've talked to DRC?
(02/04 15:47:54) Tai'lahr: Then, we should act as anyone else who's been carrying on IC stories, but not here?
(02/04 15:47:54) Mac: Yeah I think Tweek was agreeing that the "unuathorized" would tend to stay clear of any DRC
(02/04 15:48:55) JWPlatt: I'm gonna want to approach Laxman, ICly, if you know what I mean, pelletwise, eventually... Heh.
(02/04 15:49:07) RAWA: Yes, I had pictured IC stories from those who have found a way down before the others.
(02/04 15:49:12) Tai'lahr: So, our posts would run more along the lines of "oops, they almost saw me..." kind of thing?
(02/04 15:50:14) Tai'lahr: Okay, that's much clearer, now. The point is that whether it's a tester or not, anyone will be able to play along with the DRC posts.
(02/04 15:50:15) RAWA: I'm on board with that kind of thing, Tai'lahr.
(02/04 15:50:49) RAWA: Indeed.
(02/04 15:51:02) RAWA: Anything else I can clear up?
(02/04 15:51:33) Ken.: Minkata sparklie
(02/04 15:51:41) JWPlatt: We've already left our marks down here and there won't be a wipe, so is "Unauthorized Explorers" a good way to go in your opinion?
(02/04 15:51:57) Tai'lahr: When the play button is updated, there will be instructions on how others can sign up. right?
(02/04 15:52:09) Mystdee: so posts IC in DRC forum only?
(02/04 15:52:11) RAWA: JWPlatt - yes, once the cat is out of the bag.
(02/04 15:52:30) JWPlatt looks for cat - finds only claw maeks on leg.
(02/04 15:52:52) RAWA: Tai'lahr - I hope so. I haven't seen the updates to the site.
(02/04 15:52:55) Mac: Well Unauthorized Explorers fits with the existing IC stories that have been going on anyway
(02/04 15:53:40) JWPlatt: We're a desperate bunch.
(02/04 15:53:50) RAWA: Mystdee - yes, IC posts are more fitting on the DRC forums.
(02/04 15:54:02) Mystdee: Ok got it
(02/04 15:54:10) Gimlet: Well, "unauthorized" could lead to some intersting story directions, after all
(02/04 15:54:16) JWPlatt: Always nice to see activity at the old 'stead.
(02/04 15:54:30) Tai'lahr: One more thing - the last update to the DRC site said that some ResEngs stayed behind. How do you explain that they're not here, now? They just gradually left on their own?
(02/04 15:54:57) JWPlatt: They've been in the cafeteria where all the food is.
(02/04 15:55:13) Tai'lahr: Yeah, it was the mention of food that made me think of the ResEngs. ;)
(02/04 15:55:36) Mystdee: I have seen them they now reside on Facebook LOL
(02/04 15:55:49) RAWA: Tai'lahr - yes, the ResEngs dwindled back to the surface long ago
(02/04 15:56:09) Tai'lahr: Any chance you'll let Tweek update the DRC site soon?
(02/04 15:56:24) RAWA: That's not for me to decide, sorry
(02/04 15:56:33) JWPlatt: Ok, here's one more question while you're here: Are these 'hoods or Bevins?
(02/04 15:56:44) RAWA: JWPlatt - yes
(02/04 15:56:50) Tai'lahr: Awww, but you're the story guy; you could put in a good word towards it.
(02/04 15:56:51) Gimlet: *snort*
(02/04 15:57:06) JWPlatt groans
(02/04 15:57:22) RAWA laughs
*More picture taking.*
(02/04 16:02:45) RAWA: Anything else before I go trip some of Laxman's sensors?
(02/04 16:03:13) Ken.: Will you be getting programers to fix the programable stuff
(02/04 16:03:23) RAWA: Kan - not anytime "soon", sorry.
(02/04 16:04:14) RAWA: Anything that needs a programmer or an artists is in the "someday" category, I'm afraid.
(02/04 16:06:17) RAWA: Gimlet: I plan to leave them all on (except Minkata) for a while. May revisit that and start turning them off and on at some point in the future.
(02/04 16:08:30) RAWA: Turning them on and off is easy enough for me to handle. Giving people a chance to get back to where they were is what I'm after.
(02/04 16:08:43) RAWA: With the unfortunate exception of Minkata
(02/04 16:11:37) RAWA: Here's to hoping that "someday" arrives someday
(02/04 16:11:47) Mac: I'm not asking for numbers, but is it costing Cyan much to do all this?
(02/04 16:12:25) RAWA: Mac, I have no idea. I'm not privvy to those details.
(02/04 16:13:14) RAWA: My semi-educated guess is that it's not too expensive to just have the servers running, or we wouldn't be here now.
*More picture taking & saying goodbye.*
I hope we will all be able to join you soon though my Mac needs some surgery as he doesn't want to put me on the internet when I'm on windows mode!!!!! which means I'm not near getting to the cavern :( Though I could steal hubby mac ......)

In the meanwhile have fun testing all the bugs for us and don't forget to put all these fences cos we don't want someone falling through the volcano ;)

Thank you for the log Tai'lhar.
I think we're in for some interesting IC talk on the DRC forums tonight. :) (I'm really glad to see IC talk making a big comeback lately)

Yes - thanks for the chatlog, Tai'lahr!

What I don't understand is, if Kodama and Sutherland see us in the cavern and make posts specifically citing our names, why would we not be allowed to post chatlogs about it? They will have exposed us, so it doesn't matter, right?

I don't expect they'll use our names in their posts. They may say that they encountered an explorer or saw one run past, etc...

I think the point is that we'll be able to "report" on their appearances - but it must be done in a way that it could be made up by anyone playing at an IC story - even if they're not really in the cavern. If we do report on seeing them in the cavern, be prepared to be challenged on those reports. It might be best to remain somewhat vague. Leave room for others to play along, too.

I can see how this will play out on the "Share Your Journey" forums...

RTR: Yeah, Marie totally caught me down by the Ferry Terminal doing a marker mission.

Doubting Thomas: What a liar! You're just taking advantage of their deliberately vague post about seeing explorers. Anybody can pretend they were there.

RTR: <whips out chat log with Marie> BAM! Shuddap, fool!
