Now presenting a new utility for Beta!

We now have a little program that will check your connections to the Uru servers and let you know where, if any, trouble is to help correct it.

If you're having trouble connecting to Beta, two simple clicks will help you figure out why and where.

Simply download the program using the link below and save it to your computer. Then run the program to check your connection status. 8)

>Download PingMe!<

This utility checks your connection to the Uru Live servers to help you find out what kind network troubles you might be experiencing. (server down, hardware failure, etc.)

It pings the servers and then reports the status of each connection with not only the response times, but on a color scale shown below.

Level 1: Green - GOOD
Anything under 120 ms
Level 2: Yellow - FAIR
120 ms -> 249 ms
Level 3: Orange - CAUTION
250 ms -> 999 ms
Level 4: Red - FAIL
1000 ms (timeout) or Error

You may need to tell your firewall to allow this program to access the internet for it to function properly. Please see your firewall's documentation for information on how to do that.

Note: This IS NOT an official Cyan program. This was made by me in cooperation with Cyan Worlds and has been approved for your use.

What an incredibly useful tool, especially considering the many variations of connection problems people seem to be experiencing! This gives everyone a clear and simple way to check their UL beta connection status -- and identify the problem, if there is a problem -- and that will no doubt be a huge help to many. Thank you for taking the time to create this program, and for sharing it with all of us! Much appreciated ^_^ *claps*

PS The interface has some sweet and subtle touches, I love the cursor hehe.

Nice program, Tehl..
I tried running it several times and the times varied all over the map..
Dunno if that's me, them or the net in between..

Post Script - Don't forget - to use this you must turn off your FireWalls (Hardware and Software)

Some firewalls need only be aware that the program is allowed to reach the internet. Depends how flexible your firewall is.

Glad people are enjoying it. Can't tell you how glad I am to be able to show it to you now. 8)

Nice little utility. When I first ran it, I got fair and Warning's on my response times.

Then I turned off my Bittorrent seeds and they all turned green. :)

All online games need something like this.

This is bad advice as a blanket statement. It's along the same lines as telling people not to wear seatbelts to avoid being trapped in an accident. :(

I agree with Deledrius. The advice should be to get your firewall to authenticate your connection (however difficult your firewall might make it).

good point. more than once, i've had to tell my son to turn off his seeds so that i can even use the 'net... got so bad that outlook couldn't even get a connection. :)

for those of us with more than one computer on our internet connection, it'd be a good idea to make sure what's running on those other computers. it very well could make a difference in your URU experience if there's something else high-bandwidth running on the same connection. especially if your connection is on the slow side anyway, i'd think that running another MMO on another computer could affect URU's connection speed.

I have tryed out the ping test thing but everything fails no matter what time of day it is. IPS Rating: FAIL FAIL FAIL. DNS: Rating FAIL FAIL FAIL. Then "destination host unreachable" all the way down the list. What exactly does this mean to me? What can I do to fix this?

Note: I tryed it every which way firewall on and firewall off, Virus detector off and Virus detector on. Help please.
