Hi Everyone.

I just want to get an update out to you all about the problems your seeing on beta right now. Looks like most of the issues ( login fails / disconnects/ timeouts / character duplications ) are related to a concurrency/performance issue between our servers and the oracle database. I know it seems really frustrating to not be able to play right now after waiting for so long but the information we have been collecting has been extremely valuable to us.

The techs are still working to solve this issue. We also want to let you know that we may have to do another vault wipe or two to iron out these issues. So dont panic if your character wind up not showing up.

Again, Sorry for the inconvenience. Server upgrades and and migrations are not always easy but we have gotten great feedback and information from you all. Thanks for being so patient with this process.

Lbell

Thanks for the update.

Buy the techs a pizza or two and tell them we're rooting for them.

Any ETA on the fix?

Note to self: chucker was right. Except he was more specific and said it was a lock issue. ;)

Thank you for the update.

To whole Cyan team and the techs: a spontaneous round of applause for the hard work. Keep pitching gang - we'll wait as patiently as we can. :)

Well, "concurrency issue", to me implies, a locking problem, i.e. a problem with, y'know, concurrent access. ;) :)

Main point being though, my guess that it had nothing to do with the server(s) as a whole being "down" was correct.

Which is relevant insofar as that it indicates that the scalability may be better than some think.

Or it could be update sequencing and corruption. We're seeing odd things explained by corruption. Which, I suppose, could be the absense of proper locks at times. ;)

Thanks lbell.....for the update. I know you guys will get it sorted out and I wish you the best. I'm sure you must know the fans are behind you and appreciate all you are doing. I know that all of you at Cyan will be rewarded for your efforts in not that much time.
