How To Make Your Own: There are so many wonderful things to see in URU Live, I'm hoping that others will help document some of the wonderful places in 3d too. Here's how to do it:

1) you need 2 images, take your first picture then side step (< key) 2 or 3 steps and take the 2nd picture (if objects are close to you, do only 2 steps, if objects are really far away take 3 steps); when side-stepping, don't touch any other keys or the mouse (for movement) so that you will be looking in same direction for 2nd picture;
2) find your files on your computer Hard Drive; on Mac, I found them here: Documents>Library>Preferences>Myst Online Preferences>p-drive, etc.
3) place your images side-by-side and test 3d effect; if you place them in reverse order by mistake, then far away things will appear close and visa-versa;
4) merge the layers (both images) into one layer/one file, left image on left side and right image on right side; adjust brightness and contrast; adjust saturation if required;
5) add border if you like by increasing the canvas size. This makes it a little easier to view; save-as jpg in new folder on desktop or as you like.
6) upload to a photo-hosting website and post online right in this thread!

TIPS: Movement:
1) Objects that are moving are very hard to capture in 3d. For example, in the GZ 3d image, I had to copy paste the rotating device from one image into the other image and adjust it's location so that it appeared behind the foreground objects.
2) Sky is also another factor...if clouds move, then it is better to just copy/paste one sky from one image into the other image, adjusting its location, so that it appears in the background. People can be 3d'd if they don't move.

It's fun to do...give it a try and lets see whada u come up with :lol:

Making a paper funnel to look through has helped me a lot, which is why I'm having a bit of fun doing this. Has it helped anyone else?... Also, the images are very large, if too large, let me know.

Here's my 3D pic:

Hope you like it!

Also, I made a tool to help view pics: cut a 4 cm x 3 cm hole out of a strip of card board. Try it if you want.

Very cooool 3d Vince. Nicely done! The frost on the glass is really nice touch.

I especially like your tip of cutting a hole in a piece of cardboard to view through, works great.

I wonder if the plasma engine that uru uses could be configured to work with LCD shutter glasses... that would totaly RULE! :mrgreen:
I'm sure it could be done, although LCD glasses are quite expensive :(

Just now i've thought of a neat project: a 3D uru animated panorama. How?
1.Take photo
2.Side step
3.Repeat 1 and 2
4.Take the photos and make a bunch of 3d pics
5.Make them into a video

Ill have to try it one of these days...

The plasma engine wouldn't need to be modified. Nvidia makes 3D stereo drivers... http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d_stereo.html

:D Cool!
That is very interesting. I'll have to look into that.
We could have the pics in this thread in Uru, all the time and without having to cross our eyes.

Yeah, that would be awesome. I personally am looking towards the day when we can play all games in real 3d right from the screen. Thanks for the info Herohtar, that'll give me lots of insight into the subject.

Great ZERO Three-Dimensional Series... hope you enjoy them. If you see a problem w/ the images, please let me know (i.e. too dark, too wide, etc.) as they are set for my monitor and I'll be happy to change them if required.

This link is to some pictures of the Main Characters that are running around every so often (not 3d, lol)... they include:

Victor Laxman,

Michael Engberg,

Phil Henderson,

Dr. Watson,

Maria Sutherland,

I. M. Foreman,

Douglas Sharper,

Dr. Ikuro Kudama (not a great picture).

Portrait Link: http://myssterrie.createforum.net/about381.html

I got the images from viewing some video produced by The Great Tree http://thegreattree.com/media/

I have a request. Sadly I am unable to see 3-D due to being blind in one eye. These pictures do absolutely nothing for me. (Not the fault of the creator of them). My request is there anyone who would endeavor to undertake/attempt to try to explain to me just what I am missing by not being able see 3-D ar try to explain what seeing 3-D is like. I realize that this is an unusual request and may not be even possible to explain, but thanks to those who try. :D
