I received a complete package today which contains the daily pellet numbers from July 27, 2007 through April 9, 2008. I will post them soon.

All around THANK YOU and applause to Mr. Laxman and Dr. Watson.

Alahmnat, Zardoz, BrettM, Erik - I'll be winging something your way. Thanks for all your efforts.

Without further delay, here is the complete history of pellet contributions to the Lake Project, something I consider one of the most signficant and worthwhile endeavors the Cavern has to offer the community. The Lake Project has always been something I've really believed in for all the reasons I've ever written about: community, common cause, meaning, story, tangible explorer contrubution and effect, continuous gameplay, and more... I'm happy with how things went in my time there. It has been most gratifying, and an honor, to be allowed to participate.

Thanks to Zardoz and BrettM for their valuable time doing superb analysis. Thanks to Erik for his wonderful job of producing the graphs. And thanks to Alahmnat for offering to put this data on his DPWR website.

Special thanks to Tai'lahr, aka "Spike," for her relentless enthusiasm, contributions, ideas, and help.

And again, BIG THANKS, to the Cyantists and the alteregos (Mr. Laxman, Dr. Watson) involved. This data is an extraordinary and very much appreciated "give" from Cyan.

If there is a conflict between what I reported previously and this data, I would trust this data.

I have prepared the data below in comma-separated format so that you can copy/paste it into a plain-text file (e.g. Notepad) and save-as with a ".csv" extension. Then, assuming you have Excel or a similar spreadsheet application, you can double-click on the file and it will appear perfectly formatted for further analysis.

I apologize for the lack of functional spoiler tags.

Thanks a lot for the data update, JWPlatt. Based on that, I made a first compilation of the Pellet Point data:

Image

Sorry for making the forum layout explode, but making the image smaller would make it useless.
I want the spoiler tags back ;)

EDIT: When reviewing, I just realized there is a gap in the data between 12/2/07 and 12/7/07 - and there are two lines for 11/04/2007 with different data :?:
Quote:
11/4/2007,248,461,617
11/4/2007,306,429,614

So the graph shows those gaps as well. I will do a new one soon, when this is cleared; until then please don't assume it to be final.

EDIT2: Oh, and to mention: I don't want to steal Eric's job. I just forgot where these graphs can be found (and did not retrieve them on DPWR, maybe I'm blind), so wanted to draw one for myself to have a look, then decided to share.

11/4/2007 was the day before I began to receive data. I'm just guessing, but the second entry for the date may have been caused by preparations to share the data. Or maybe it's a D'ni Leap Day where, unlike our February 29, they actually repeat a calendar day. ;)

The "25" on December 7 looks to be a partial-day amount - it probably reflects the limited access to the cavern that day after the early December server maintenance. If I were me, I would strike that from the data set. Also, the weekly and total averages have some strange bumps and grinds. The daily data can be treated as the "real" data, so I wouldn't use the averages provided (not JWP's fault, just some wacky data practices on the part of Mr. Laxman).

About the 11/4/2007 double entry:

As I suspected, there was a revision to the method of data collection. The time of the reading was changed from midnight Pacific Time to midnight Cavern (Mountain) Time. So the two readings on 11/4 were 23 hours apart. As far as the Cavern is concerned, they account for two different days' pellet contributions.

Probably the most accurate way to account for the discrepancy is to subtract 1 from all the dates up to that first entry for 11/4, since that would have been a more accurate date for the corresponding reading in the Cavern. When the pellets were checked at 12am on 11/4, it was actually accounting for the pellets contributed on 11/3 (with the exception of one hour).

Hey,

If anyone is interested, Erik has a page on his website showing the pellet results in a nice format:

http://drcarch.thecitadel.nl/restoration/lake-algae/

There is other cool stuff there too.

Thanks Erik.

Yays! :D

And, the ultimate goal here is to produce a nice, steady line on the graph, right?

- Spike

But we have had a perfectly straight, steady line for the last two years. Unfortunately it was a flat line.

Now to raise the line to a positive number.

Has anyone else seen parts of lake light up near all the sunken boats. Some have been saying divers but the lights keep fading in and out. Is this a by-product of our pellets?
