To celebrate the final release of the Guild of Maintainers' Camp Bravo (an Age written by GoMa ADD Grandmaster Andy Legate), the Guild is sponsoring a competition open to all explorers.
A journal in Camp Bravo gives a little information about the Age and the planet it is on.
Quote: ABOUT CAMP BRAVO Camp Bravo has been set up on Tiw, one of five moons orbiting the ringed gas-giant Angmar. The other four moons appear to be small and rocky, like Earth's Moon.
Angmar itself orbits a Sun-like star at the same distance as the Earth orbits the Sun. This, together with Tiw's thick atmosphere, ensures a stable temperature here at Camp Bravo.
Angmar is sometimes visible in the sky above Camp Bravo, depending on the time of day or night.
Tiw statistics Gravity -- 0.92 Earth Norm. Atmospheric pressure -- 1012 mb Atmospheric content -- 20% oxygen, 78% nitrogen, 2% other
BIOLOGY OF TIW On initial link-in, a team of Maintainers explored as much of Tiw's surface as possible. No inhabitants were found, nor any evidence of past settlements.
The largest animals seem to be small bird-like creatures and small reptiles. However, there are many different types of insects.
Most of the surface appears to be rocky desert, so there is not much vegetation. This may have been different in the past as some coal deposits have been found.
Here's what we would like you to do. First, explore Camp Bravo by day and night -- either by using Uru:CC/ULM or by slide show/video (please pm me if you need this). Get to know the area thoroughly, because it might give you ideas of what to expect later, for the competition...
Next (in your imagination), kit yourself up with maintainer suit and backpack containing compass, water, food, rope and other essentials for a two-day hiking expedition. Choose a direction from the list below, and try to keep to that direction for the outwards journey. Start your expedition from the link-in point.
On your expedition, what do you see? What happens along the way? Did the initial team of maintainers miss anything interesting?
Report on your expedition in words, by photograph (aka computer image) or by sketch (scanned drawing). Post your reports and images on this thread on the Guild of Maintainers forum by 30 November 2008.
The best entries will be included in a journal for other explorers to enjoy in Camp Bravo.
Directions: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW
To find north, face the concrete wall from the link-in point.
Please post below your choice of direction. First come, first served!
And if anything isn't clear about the competition, do ask in this thread too.
Have fun, and good luck!
