Hey everyone. I am set on putting together an Atrus outfit for the holiday season (and for cosplay here in the Dallas area). It will be based on his Exile yellow coat attire but I technically will be playing myself (Keyes) in the Myst universe. I have mostly everything ordered so this will really be an update on how things are progressing for those who are interested. I just finished the Myst book (excluding the cover, which I am still making), so enjoy the pictures.

(Edit: Old link was broken)

The details... well let's just say I found a nice hardcover from Half-priced books for $3. Carved out the pages with an exacto knife (I will stress making sure the device will fit properly the first time, as re-trimming is an incredible pain). The device is an Archos 5 media tablet I happened to own as my mp3 player. It has a very nice 4.8" screen, 60gb HD and has speakers. It really is an excellent device to use as the screen can play video. I plan on playing some youtube videos showing the age fly-overs of all of the Myst games (Myst island flyover is a bit short for showing off to friends even though it's supposed to be the Myst book only). Will send more updates when available!

You could always loop it over and over for something like an hour. I realize the Myst flyby isn't really loopable, but a simple fade ought to work. Any chance you can widen your video to take up the full screen? I look forward to seeing what you do with the cover.

Aye, I was considering taking the Myst flyby and using a video-editor to make a long loop, the fade is a good idea for the transition. There is a way to make it full screen too, I hadn't realized it until after I uploaded the pictures, so it looks much more realistic now.

I had to re-upload the video since it never processed, will post the new link above

Just ordered the goggles. They weren't cheap ($50) but almost perfectly matched what I wanted. Will be using Esher's (Hope he doesn't notice me borrowing them from my trip to Noloben). Images below

The seller has a few others of the same model, not sure where he gets them from. The brown strap is nice but I think I will try to hide the metal circles somehow. I like your Zandi shirt, nice for the heat down here =P

These are quite likely the original Atrus goggles. This photo was taken recently by Calumon during Mysterium's visit to the Cyan vault.

Nice, I am tempted to browse the internets again to see if I can find anything like those.

I see that another pair of goggles has come up for sail by the same seller.

Just completed the coat portion of the outfit. With an unlimited budget I would have preferred a real wool trench coat but opted with a full-length PVC raincoat for about $20. The design is actually a mix between his action figure and the actual outfit he wore in the game.

It matched up with the 4 rows of loop buttons, even though I think in Exile he has 5 rows. Also the most notable difference is the lining color. While the action figure is clearly brown, the video of Atrus suggests a dark red. To illustrate why there may be different versions, observe the following picture.

That's about it, some slight other changes due to budget/ materials available/ ect, but hopefully like other cosplay outfits it should be just a good representation of the character. (Though if Cyan is looking to release any props, I would be more than accepting =)

Now to finish that blasted book cover...

Cover is now finished. This completes the last piece of the puzzle. Will post pictures of my trip down to the Texas Ren Fest

I better be careful and not leave this book just laying around. Wouldn't want someone...
