Back in the day (boy, does that make me feel old,) there was a group of explorers in Uru called the Students of D'ni Knowledge, or the SoDK. We were a group of scholars, dedicated to discovering, researching, discussing, and teaching D'ni history, culture, philosophy, and religion. When the bahro came, we searched for any possible mention of them in the old books. When the DRC released a recently discovered D'ni creation myth, they released it through us. It was a fantastic time, and I had the sheer joy of acting as moderator for the group.

Well, Uru is back. And so now we are back as well.

We're working (with help and many, many thanks to TheReporter) on getting a website back. But we can start meetings now.

Traditionally our meetings have been on Sunday nights, but I'm putting up a poll to see who wants to join. Meetings are free to anyone, and those interested in being a direct part of the SoDK can join the Students of D'ni Knowledge's Neighborhood by contacting me (my KI# is below).

Welcome back, Uru! We've been waiting for you!

Sounds a bit like the DRAEC, not to steal your thunder... I think we have different group motives and goals, but I'm not quite sure. Could you clarify that you are just not exactly like us? Go to http://DRAEC.webs.com and read our home page. I'd like to know the differences in our groups, and if we possibly could work together. :)

Have no fear, Keffren, you will not steal our thunder. The SoDK has been around a long, long time, and we have a history of working with the DRC (and thus Cyan) to bring new information to the cavern.

To be perfectly honest, I am not certain what DRAEC is about. You do not have much forum activity yet, and it seems only moderators can access anything of any importance. So... I do not know what we might have in common. I do know that the SoDK has been doing this for some time, and we're all very excited about continuing to research and discuss D'ni history, culture, philosophy, and religion in the future.

Look at our topic "DRAEC: Not a DRC Poser" I just had this talk with a few others, it explains what we do pretty well. It's near the top of the list.

I think the main difference is that we stick with verified source materials. While we're certainly not above speculation, we label our speculations as such. Also, while you seem to be cataloging minutiae of the ages, we're more interested in the history and culture of the D'ni themselves. So I suppose the main differences are emphasis and a certain demanding rigorousness of authenticity.

Good, I see we are different. The DRAEC is just a speculatory group, and we are just having a bit of fun. I'm glad you cleared this up for me.

This will be interesting. I'd love to go to learn in this, but by the time it's 6pm here it's 00:00 Cavern Time.

Right now it looks like either Saturday or Sunday night. I'm going to go ahead and say Sunday, for scheduling purposes. So our first new meeting will be Sunday, Feb. 28, At 20:00 KI time (8 PM, 10 PM EST, 3 AM GMT). It being our first meeting in some time, it will likely be a general meet 'n greet, and a round table discussion of SoDK goals, and what directions our research should take us.

I hope to see lots of you there!

The First Students of D'ni Knowledge meeting since the cavern reopening!

Sunday, Feb. 28
20:00 KI Time

Yeah, I don't see why it needs to be so late. Just a couple of hours earlier and there'd be a much higher chance of Europeans being able to attend.

Well, a few reasons. First of all, the later time allows for more West Coast cavern members to join. Get to early on a Sunday and they have trouble doing so. Second of all, get too much earlier and I have trouble attending. And it's sort of vital that I attend.

I know the time makes it very inconvenient for our European friends, and I do regret that. At the moment, though, there's very little I can do about that, given my own schedule.

I've found the most universal appeasing time is 1:00 EST.

Perfect for almost everyone, except Australia.

I'm so glad you've found that, Keffren. Regrettably, were I to hold the meeting at 1 PM EST, I would not be able to attend. And if I am unable to attend, I cannot hold the meeting. Not the perfect set of circumstances, but I hope everyone will be forgiving and willing to make do with the later time slot.

You could reschedule altogether... You cut down on EST users, and there will be almost nobody in europe attending. Maybe a different date is better. Better to have one big meeting than several small ones.
