I remember when I had a Commdore 64 in 1985 and had the text adventure (remember those?) The Hobbit on tape.
It took exactly one hour to load.

Then it was typing in commands like ...
open door "You open the big round green door"
Look north "You look north and see a winding path"
north "You go north up the winding path"

remember those games?

i played on a CPC 464 Amstrad : 'failed to load, check the tape'

For years, new Myst games were the only reason I ever upgraded or got a new computer.

What I found goes back to 1999 ... ... :)

Ok, I've been looking into the D'ni Dictionary everybody knows ... There you'll get a link to a picture and are thus linked to this page ... From under the picture you could be linked to another page which doesn't exist anymore, but I found it through the wayback machine and here it is for anyone interested ... What a beautiful, interesting journey back in time ... :D

Now I wonder what made this word the most fascinating in the world as for yourselves and others back when and why, Tweek and vid, I mean, do you have an intriguing story to tell around it, or is it the reminiscence of the old times related to its occurrence ...

Yeah it was back from RivenGuild days, Gordo had a couple of puzzle sites E.D.G.E. and G.R.I.D. I believe behlehtsahrah (which is D'ni for lechuguilla). IIRC it was in relation to DIRT (or Uru as it became) being made by Cyan Agave lechuguilla being the plant and Lechuguilla Cave being in Carlsbad New Mexico.

It was one of the first clues we ever had as to the New Mexico location of D'ni. I seem to remember there being significant discussion about whether or not the plant related to the production of Books in anyway, as well.

Remember when you played Myst for the first time?

For some of you, it might have been twenty years ago today.

For me, it was sometime around 1998. I found a Sega Saturn version of the game hanging out in a K-Mart bargain big for three dollars. I begged my mom to buy it for me, took it home, and started an obsession that would last for at least fifteen years.
