1. Cyan is trying to cut costs. Anything that requires more effort means more costs. Additionally, donations are supposed to be private information. Finally, if I remember correctly, Cyan doesn't want to disclose this information so that no pressure is put unto the players who donate, so that they can donate whatever they feel comfortable donating.
2. The back-end server is down because that's what servers do; no matter how stable your system, it will eventually crash. Not to mention that the code running on these servers is several years old, with practically no updates over the past few years. Outages aren't unexpected (and have in fact occurred in the past).
3. What advantage would a "rat" at Cyan have in bringing down a server? Not to mention that if this was the case, the problem could most likely be traced and solved pretty quickly; judging from MDogherra's post, this sounds like something deeper.
4. Punctuation helps when writing.

EDIT: Looks like it might have something to do with power outages in Spokane.

You have missed the point bud only asking for clarity as to what each cav con means I understand donations are private but what does cav con mean in monetary terms ? Cavcon one?

CAVCON Level Definitions

CAVCON 5: Unlike some movies, which get the DEFCON levels backwards, CAVCON 5 is the best state. It means that donations are exceeding MO:ULagain expenses, there are a couple of months of MO:ULagain expenses in reserve, and extra money can be put toward server upgrades, bug fixes, new content, incorporating fan created content, etc.

CAVCON 4: This level means that donations are exceeding MO:ULagain expenses, and we are building a small reserve fund for future slow periods.

CAVCON 3: Donations are roughly equal to MO:ULagain expenses.

CAVCON 2: Donations are less than MO:ULagain expenses, and we're currently using the reserve fund to help pay for MO:ULagain expenses.

CAVCON 1: Donations are less than MO:ULagain expenses, and the reserve fund is empty. This would be A Bad Thing (tm).

Let's not attribute to malice ordinary server farts.

Aside from that, people have been asking for more transparency from Cyan for years (as in, 2.5x the amount of time you've been registered on this forum). CAVCON is a huge change from their actions in the past, to be totally honest.

One of the things to consider here is that there's probably only one or two people that can deal with anything beyond a trivial issue with the servers. Since M.Dogherra posted the outage notice, I'd guess that Chogon is out on vacation this week, so unable to look at the problem. Cyan were, I know from personal conversations, very supportive of the Palooza, so there's no reason to suggest that there was any attempt to undermine it, so dismiss any such thought.

As far as CAVCON transparency goes, I think there's ample documentation around to explain it.

Eh, it's just bad timing. Nothing more.

D'nipalooza's already been rescheduled and I'm quite sure Cyan will have the server back up by then. Take a few deep breaths, then have a cookie or two while you wait. :P
