Merry Christmas!!
(Time is still early?? lol )

♪♪♪ I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus ♪♪♪

This song sings in the Japanese translation version saying "Santa Claus kissed mommy".
However, in the lyrics of the original title, "Mommy kissed Santa Claus".

It is Santa Claus to have kissed (daddy)?
Or is it mommy?

I think that Japanese translation is wrong.

The song says that Mommy and 'Santa Claus' were seen kissing each other, and "implies" in a mutual embrace from the wording and context. ('Kissing' as opposed to kiss or kissed.) The implication of the song is that the (young) singer doesn't realize that it is Daddy dressed as Santa.

So yes, the Japanese translation is wrong, or at least confusing. As I only know a little Japanese, it may be that suitable or clearer wording isn't available that would fit with the music.

Oh, I see!! :D
"kissing each other …" :)
The lyrics of this song were mysteries from the time when I was young.
A longtime mystery was just removed!!

Thank you very much Robin!!
I pray to be able to spend Christmas when you are fun.

Sincerely yours,
Chiro

Tai, I also felt to say something like that, because I didn't want to embarrass Chiro in any way I didn't, but now that you've expressed it so nicely, I'd like to wholeheartedly agree with your statement and put myself behind it ... absolutely lovely, yes, indeed ... and yes, it's a great explanation, Robin ... :D

You're welcome, Chiro. 8)

P.S. English/Japanese translations can be particularly challenging as there are no common language roots, in addition to the syntax and cultural differences. I spent quite a bit of time explaining American/English idioms and phrasing to some of my Japanese colleagues back when I worked for a Japanese owned company.

Oh, and while "...mystery was just removed" may be technically correct, "...mystery was just solved" is more likely what you were trying to say.
