D'ni doesn't seem to tolerate any double consonants.

Trivia: in Chinese (and a few other languages) numbers are often grouped by four instead of three (e.g. not 10,000 ten thousand but 1,0000 one myriad) 8) .

Of course, D’ni also has fablo 100000 (~24,025 miles) , which would perhaps be preferred in this case.

I selected famel for its literal meaning, rather than anything else.

Which is a pity, the Island really should have been called Ægurra

Well, it should link to Google Translate, with the From Language set to Finnish and the word “ägurrra” (sic) in the Text Field. Listen to how the synthesizer reads that word. Have I mentioned I imagine D’ni with a Finnish accent and cadence?

I probably would have used "ahr" instead of "lis". On the whole, though, it makes sense. And since we aren't sure that "ahr" means "go" and not another verb, what the hey.

The motto of the Guild of Messengers, “see a need, fill a need”:

.yimem erTxEmatav tArema erTxEmatav

Shouldn't that be yimema, in the imperative?

No, the meaning is “(if/when you) see a need, (you should/must) fill a need”. I thought the indicative/imperative rendition was better suited to a motto than a conditional.

Maybe the second címatav could be prefixed by re-, since it’s the same “need”.

A request by Nev’yn:

The truth speaks for itself, I am just the messenger.

My workaround for the missing “itself”:

.revotana mEsen krevotana - Ken SEtemsUtan Kåt
.revotahnah meesen khrevotahnah - ken sheetemsootahn kat

Maybe I could just use “mísen xeta”?

One from Larry LeDeay:

Those who seek wisdom will never find themselves lost

My attempt:

.rovmotE oenazoal / mIrual / hUral ge'Dan xanril boKenEt (hUrij) oSanin
.rovmotee oenahzoahl/míruahl/hoorahl ge’dahn tsahnril bokeneet (hoorij) oshahnin
Lit. Those wishing for/wanting/finding wisdom will never be (found) lost

How would one translate “those who would seek”, by the way? What I could come up with is either rovmotí kæmrovtí or a hybrid kæmrovmotí, but they don’t really sound correct to me.

An attempt by Larry to use a conditional lead to a consideration: from Orz. we know that kobol- is the cond. perfect “would have <verb>ed”. Following the pattern of the other prefixes, the cond. present “would <verb>” should then be kobo-. Incidentally, boko- is the irregular alternative form of the indicative future perfect bol-, but as far as I know, there aren’t examples of boko- used in-context.

I'm not sure what the best way would be to combine a demonstrative pronoun like motee with a relative clause. The safest alternative might be to use a noun as head, so something like rovtee mot (verb)eet, with a finite relative clause to match the English original. With a participle it would be rovtee ge'dahn(verb)ahl, but it's not clear how productive the object-participle construction of pradteegahl is.

"Conditional" might not be the best way to think of kobo-. Based on its internal structure, I lean towards analyzing it as a prospective form: a future event from a past perspective. This fits nicely with its reverse, boko-, being retrospective: a past event from a future perspective, glossed with English "will have".

My feeling is that the actual conditional is an as yet unknown auxilliary.
