The Watcher's Sanctuary is open, access through the nexus.
...except its a public instance, and with the amount of people in there it's almost not worth going in right now.

I know this is the spoiler forum, but shouting out the spoiler in the actual topic title seems a bit much.

I, for one, would have appreciated a more subtle revealing (so that I can choose which things I want to be spoiled about).

Anyhoo...

Max population is 5000

Edit: Whose bright idea at Cyan was this? I could barely get into Ae'gura with 75 people, so how do they expect me to get into the pub with 5000?!! This is INSANE! I sure hope they made a hood instance for this.

I didn't really think it was a spoiler, since you get a message from the DRC saying the same exact thing.

Maybe I'm too sensitive... I just kind of wanted to find this out myself when logging on.

Eh, forget it. I'm overreacting. Sorry. Carry on.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ruin it. I've changed the title accordingly.

From a chatlog someone posted on the Uru Obsession Forums:
Quote:
(06/23 19:17:11) ResEng W. Cowart: That 5000 in the Nexus is not accurate and will be fixed soon. No worries. Tell your friends.
...
(06/23 19:18:49) ResEng W. Cowart: Don't know for sure. Maybe we'll just see what happens and leave it at 5000. =P
...
(06/23 19:21:40) ResEng W. Cowart: Keep in mind, folks, that we're also well aware of that fact that while you're in here, your chat to buddies, neighbors, and PM's may display the word "(null)" in it. That's something our KI Technicians are indeed working on. It's just not severe enough to deleay releasing this place. =)
...
(06/23 19:22:27) ResEng W. Cowart: And I must be off. Have fun. =)

Anywho, I managed to get in and see exactly two frames, then I crashed. Oh well, I think I'll wait until the middle of the night or something and hope there's less than 100 people then.

/me waits for a 'hood-instanced version of the Watcher's Pub.

Aw, Tirisfal, that's so nice of you! I really think I was overreacting though. Now if I could just get down to the cavern already... (although it seems going to the Watcher's Sanctuary is a bad idea right now).

I've got pictures! It's rather crowded!
Image

Image

Image
134 people at last count.

If you want to know the specific, spoilery details of what is and is not in the pub...
The Watcher's Prophecies journals are placed near the puzzle door. The door is closed, and cannot be opened (at this time). The journal by the linking pedestals is present, but (not surprisingly) the books to Er'cana and Ahnonay are not there. Great view of the tree.
I noticed that the lag is less than in the city, despite having 1.5 times as many people. I suspect that it is because the city, even though it removed all but one of the cones, still has to implement object-person collisions for that one cone. The Watcher's Sanctuary has no kickables, and therefore can toss out the collision engine (except for walls and floors). I'm not sure if this is true, but if it isn't, I encourage this action on behalf of the Cyantists.

Not true, the reason for the low lag is that the Pub is small, and the city is huge.
If it was very laggy for you, then it must be the video card, I had pretty good frame rates when I was there, which is a ton better than in the original prologue where I was getting something like 1 frame per minute.

I'm uploading a video now, for everyone to enjoy the spectacle.

Tip: Disable shadows when in crowded areas. You can turn them on and off easily from the graphics options within the game - no need to quit.

Avatar shadows at full quality are quite detailed, and use a lot of processing power to render. Turning them off will dramatically improve performance. Try it some time.

Lowering your graphical settings in general will help a ton. The "lag" in crowds currently seems to be almost entirely client-side. Meaning, your computer and the server are communicating fine, your computer just isn't able to draw the graphics at a good speed. Avatars are very high-poly, so big crowds can slow things down. Looks like the netcode is optimized, and the avatars models need some work next.
