Instead of messing around with the elevator etc to get between the rooms, do this.
Go to the journey cloth side of the short broken catwalk. Look at the big piece of broken concrete and click on it. Your avatar will push it into the gap of the broken catwalk and you now have free access between the rooms.
I know it has been around since Tpots. But there are a lot of new people who never played Pots or Complete Chronicles and don't know about this. I posted this to give everyone who didn't know easier access and speed up the feeding of the lake.

Heck there are people who have played Tpots and don't know about this.

Thanks Preach.

I played my entire off-line game without moving that rock - didn't know you could do it.

Wow! :o

I'm a little embarassed I didnt notice this back in TPotS

This is the coolest thing since the falling walkway in teledahn which I also didn't notice at first.

The best thing since sliced bread, but not quite as good as peanut butter.

Yep. At Mysterium 2006, I was showing a video to some people who said, "I didn't know that walkway in Teledahn could be lowered!"

That's what makes Cyan games so great. That these little details can emerge years later, and you notice something new.

...yet another case where Cyan's desire to keep Uru's interface "simple" actually sacrifices intuitiveness. I still love them, though; it's hard to fault them for having too much integrity.

I found this during a moment of frustration back in URU:CC. After lamenting the need to run a far greater distance back and forth between the ovens and the pellet machine than was needed (and henceforth having an interesting debate with a friend about the recent spate of poorly scripted games where all you did was retrace your steps for hours), It puzzled me that the DRC hadn't solved such a simple problem and tried to convince myself that the offending rock was some sort of D'ni-enhanced super-boulder that was rooted in place for all eternity...
until I noticed it was clickable!
My point is, there's always a clue. No matter how infinitesimally small it might be, it's always there to be seen. Like many Myst puzzles, the period of white-hot annoyance never outweighs the eventual relief of solving the blasted thing :P

Good work posting this handy fact!

PS: Yes, I'm verbose... but I don't post much... so it sorta evens out :D

I obviously had a lucky break. I haven't played T-Pots (love that) so knew nothing about the rock, but having finally worked out how to get to the journey cloth, was just wondering if the rock could be jumped from that side, and happened to mouse over it and saw the hot spot. It was a simple fluke, but that particular problem went away almost immediately for me and I got to work on the pellets. It never occurred to me to report back here. Sorry.
