Weee... we just got a new graph on our KIs from the DRC showing our "algae progress". Problem is... it's very hard to read on a small computer screen.

Can anyone post a larger picture of the image so that everyone can get a good look?

I know a lot of people were very interested in pellet-making a few months ago, so there must be a few who aren't yet sick of making pellets...
The yellow line (I think it's the total) seems to be going down. What do you guys think that means?

Horray data! This could even make it to Swivel.com!

Any ideas how to encourage people like me to get in on it?

Ok, the obvious. What is 100%? What does it mean? 100% of projected pellet count? 100% of lake-feed amount? 100% saturation?

Funny, this isn't from the start of when Er'cana was released, and yet all 3 lines start at 100%? Convenient, considering the daily measure suddenly starts bouncing about like a group of explorers on caffine. My guess is 100% is an arbitrary line Cyan set for the graph, so they don't have to show the stuff behind the curtain.. and it has no actual relation to the pellets wanted vs gotten, except as a baseline.

Or alternately for that one moment in time months after we started dumping, everything was perfectly as they expected. Somehow I find that more difficult to believe than that it's an accurate measure and not massaged to fit a graph to give a message (IE dump more pellets over time)

I agree -- the 100% mark looks like it's just "relative to the first day".

I think 100% is the 'optimal' nutrient level...

But why then is it coming down?

Slowly and steady we were told yet if we are supposed to make the graph go the other way then we are not working hard enough?

Scratches head?

I think steady is the main thing, not slow. We want to keep the nutrient influx level constant (making a horizontal line on the chart), and if it's also high, even better.

I think that 100% is expected progress over time. People were excited to start with, and were going to light the lake sooner. We've lost interest, hence the decline below 100%. By my reckoning, > 100% isn't a bad thing.

Just for the heck of it, can anyone who's been involved in testing recipes remind us which ones were the best?

It would be nice to have a summary of what we know right now.

Simplest with the highest yield seems to be 30 30 30

Highest yield of all is more complicated...

The oven connected to the mixer that won't drain: 19.5 - 50 - 19.5

Other ovens: 19.5 - 50 - 50

The un-drainable mixer should be on.

If you don't get between 940 - 1000 on your pellets, fiddle slightly with the settings. Points averaged over 25 sets of 5 pellets (125 individual pellets) at 977 points.

Edit: Whoops. got it slightly wrong. Updated.

Yes. See JWPlatt's thread. The best possible reason to do this is that you can see the effect - directly. (This doesn't happen yet).

Thanks, Rusty.

The thread includes a Laxman chatlog here:

Good thread. I'll probably restart working on it when there's a feedback mechanism in place.

What might be useful is if we could get an idea of how many pellets have been dropped so far already. We could take a crack at guessing the potential number (I've heard numbers ranging in the millions for some groups). At the very least a goal is needed, and the possibility of starting to notice something isn't much impetus.

That, and I'm always for more data. Feedback is not preferred, it's necessary. It's too easy to feel useless otherwise.

errmm.... isn't that what the chart at the top of this thread is? A feedback mechanism? Course - if it's a one time shot then it is fairly useless. But if it's maintained on a daily or at least a weekly basis - even during the hiatus - then I would think its fairly easy to see if our efforts are having an effect. Course I'm interpreting the chart as going below 100% is not good, staying at or going above is good. Laxman did say the a steady feed is what would work best.

It would be nice to get the dock Daleck back though - with a real working meter. And perhaps somehow tie what the meter says to what is being shown on the chart. /shrug
