If you're a fan of the Kadish Gallery Theme and the amazing vocal performance by soloist Tasha Koontz, you might be interested in this site:

Purple Haze - a Capella Group
http://groups.northwestern.edu/phaze/PurpleHaze/Home.html
"Purple Haze is a co-ed a cappella group at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, just outside Chicago."

Anyway, I'd sent an e-mail a while back expressing our thanks for the wonderful performance that has touched so many of us in the Uru community and today I got a very pleasant reply thanking the us for all the support. She explained that she is Music Director for the group and one of the music arrangers, as well as studying voice and opera performance at Northwestern University. She can be seen in the group photo on the homepage (front row, right).

I've watched a couple of their Youtube videos and listened to some audio samples - they're quite good. Enjoy. :)

How cool is that... I just bought their CD via iTunes.

FYI, I have a lot of a cappella choral experience under my belt, and I LOVE that kind of music. These folks are superb - I'm playing their album as I write.

Thanks for the reference!

That was very nice of you to write to her expressing our appreciation. I was just in there listening to her in the Gallery last night, and it is soooo beautiful. A true work of art and artistry.

Thank you. and Thanks to her and her wonderful voice.

Thanks, Deius. I am a big fan of Tasha.

I had assumed that the additional themes from the Alt Kadish Vault, and the K'veer arrival theme (URU Live) were also Tasha. I met and spoke with Tim Larkin at Mysterium 2009 this summer, and he commented that she didn't sing all of them (I didn't get the details on which were not her) but he echoed our feelings that she has a lovely voice (and that she was of course the singer of the Kadish Gallery theme). We also discussed how that piece was used by Steven Speilberg for the trailer for the movie "Munich". It was a real treat to speak with Tim (and his daughter) at Mysterium.

I like that song too, very haunting, reminds me of Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance who now does a lot of soundtracks (Gladiator, one of my fav songs of all time is on that soundtrack "Now We Are Free"). This song is also very Cirque de Soleil! I googled Tasha and here's her FB page http://www.facebook.com/tashakoontz
