Well, I'll use the opportunity to rework my map. Here's to hoping we can get back in!

I'd like to say I invented new swear-words, but in fact I just fell back on the old standbys.

Time to get out the vector drawing program, steal everyone else's maps and match them to my meagre notes.

I'll keep an eye on the cyan server. In the meantime I'm off to TOC to see what I can find that's different. So far there's been an annoying lack of journey cloths and a tendency to fall through relto everytime I close the wardrobe . . .. .. .

Same here. 8:45 pm, EST, US. Yet another in a long line of AF-NRFP dialog boxes.
( /me reluctantly on soapbox ) :?
Let me say this to begin with so that nobody misunderstands what's coming later concerning the ever increasing instability of and inability to access MOULa as we were able to for several years prior to the problems that seem to have started in November of 2013 and still plague us to this day.
The game access problems being discussed here have been well documented by all, so we'll not go there, except for this;
3 Saturdays in a row! Really? What has it been, 8, 9, or 10 outages in less than a month or so? Truely, I am trying very hard not to sound / be critical or negative.

I care very much about MOULa, the really good folks at CYAN, the forum moderators, and all of the explorers within the MOULa community and have so since late 2003 / early 2004. However, I feel it's time to throw out a suggestion.
This might unleash some negativity my way, hope not, but so be it if thats what happens.
Somebody has to say it sooner or later...

Perhaps, and it's only a suggestion, it's time for our wonderful friends at CYAN to get some outside help, if they haven't already. Something of a professional nature such as a top level "forensic software engineer" or whatever it is they're called.
Yes, I am aware of that some steps have been taken. Just yesterday CYAN was in the city doing some sort of testing with MagicBot regarding server "red-lining," and there was a chat call for an attempt to get all avvies to link to the Bot to see if the server would crash.

It appears that what we have going on here is kind of like if you took your car to your regular mechanic and even with all of his fellow mechanics, garage tools and assets, he was unable to find a fix for a long term problem that has happened over and over with increasing frequency and then more or less states "Sorry, still don't know what's wrong."
I can't speak for anyone else, but I would possibly be looking for a different "mechanic" who can or might see something that the other mechanic can't see, overlooks or doesn't understand. By no means do I imply that those involved now aren't capable, but it does happen a lot where sometimes "new eyes" see things differently. We all know this to be true.

I was there and was one of the avatars taking part. Magicbot performed admirably, Cyan gave him a clean bill of health.

This service is worth every penny I pay for it and more. It's the best value for money I've ever seen.

It's not your car, it's Cyan's bus. You ride for free, and usually get to an interesting or exciting destination. Sometimes it breaks down and strands you for a while, but it always comes back for you.

As I understand it this is a side project with minimal funding, worked on when Cyan can find the time in between profitable jobs. In order for there to be a Cyan at all, they have to pay the bills. As far as I know they are keeping their head above water, but not making a huge profit, and certainly not enough to hire expensive software specialists to look at a non-paying side project.

I've been part of projects with such specialists. The budgets have lots of zeros on the end.

Server programming is hard, and, as Muttley says, server programmers like to see lots of zeros on the end of their paycheck. I can also say this from experience

Everyone is anxious to see this 'thingy' fixed..More than most have torn their hair out wondering what in the world is going on? I'm really quite sure that Cyan is on top of it and checking it out (I've seen a ResEng every day in the city, lately)

Thanks for your input Alan and in general, I agree with you on most things. I had a feeling my post would bring about a variety of replies, as it has. :D I agree with almost all of what I see posted so far.

Yes, the vast majority of time, MOULa is a great ride for all. I am very thankful for that and always have been for almost 3 years in MOULa, the GameTap era and even some before that. I have faith in Cyan and I'm sure we all hope this situation is resolved soon.

Re: Bots, I didn't say or imply the current situation had anything to do with the Bots. I think they're great! I saw Friday' activities as an effort to definitively prove that the Bots are not involved with the situation as Lyrositor, Stone, Michael and others have said all along.

Re: Paying for this service. It's worth every penny I pay for it too. Agreed, never said otherwise.

Re: My car vs. Cyan's bus. Agreed that it's not my car, but it is Cyan's bus. This does not preclude the "bus rider" from asking a question or even offering a suggestion.

Re: "You ride for free." If you will allow me, this I will have to an exception to, fellow explorer.
Any given participant has the choice to "ride for free" or to donate as they are able to the cause. I have been donating regularly for several years now, so no, I am not riding for free. Neither are all the other people who have been donating all along, for years, in order to keep MOULa going. :D

@ Adam, Thanks for the heads up recently regarding the effectiveness of posting Stack Dumps to the forum. 8)

I hate to say it, but at this point I kind of wish we would get a vault wipe. Everyone would have to do the game again and would lose a lot of history... yet it would be nice to have a healthy server...

Good point, Ehren.
So really.. Vault has been wiped before, right? So what was happening back then, was it any similar to what's happening now, in terms of frequency or intensity maybe... Just curious :D

At any case, we're just bus riders.. Until the union of drivers and mechanics decides to make a change to the vehicles' conditions or the itineraries, we'll just be taking it whenever it passes or just go on foot.
